"Angel Game"--It's said to be a game where one could gain the ability to control powerful elements by having a magical, circle-shaped symbol on their left hand called the "Angel's Heart". However, it was discovered that the price you pay to play this game is by having a certain "misfortune"; and that alone became the reason why the game is frowned upon society--saying it's the source of these misfortunes or the sign of an upcoming war between mankind. One day, Kokoro found herself owning the rumored Angel's Heart...after facing her biggest loss...

A shut-in that Kokoro miraculously meet somewhere in Tamahara town. Apparently, she have been living alone in the Tamahara forest, and claimed that she have never stepped into the outside world for many years. Despite her strange introduction, a certain rumored story related to the Tamahara town's shrine is implied to be connected to her...?
Personality
Often portrayed as someone experienced in living independently among her circle--she have the advantage of using her years worth of surviving in the deep forest as a way to guide her friends in travelling and in battles. Although, she also owns quite and odd mix of personalities that doesn't usually match with someone who's deemed to be strong or tough as she's quite naive, absent-minded and can't seem to tell the difference between the truth or jokes/sarcasms. This is likely because the effect of cutting herself from the outside world makes her quite sheltered and lack the communicating skills with other people.
Despite all of that, Kozue also holds the responsibility of doing everything for the sake of others--even to willing defend her friends in anything and forgetting to prioritize her own well-being. Kozue have gotten used to putting herself before her friends, and a part of them was also to "repent" a certain sin she have done in her past...?

Backstory
Usually, Kozue often acts carefree about the reason she choose to stay in the forest--but it was implied that she was never born there in the first place; and actually stayed there as a part of her "responsibilities" to reflect back on her own mistakes...
One of Kozue's earliest misfortunes was the death of her mother, who died when giving birth to Kozue; that gave her a "Heart" from the beginning. For being born in a big family of shrine maidens, the young Kozue was a very disciplined child who always follows her family's tradition and rules. Though, one day, for certain reasons, Kozue broke one of the rules set by her family--and that is going outside of the shrine. Her father, who's the leader of the family, died from heart disease while trying to find Kozue. Completely unaware, Kozue came back to her family fighting over her father's death. Her family broke apart, with most of them retired from being shrine maidens as no new leader/successor was decided after the leader passed away. Kozue was expelled by her older brother, and punished herself by living in the forest alone as she had nowhere to go anymore.
Current story
Eventually, Kozue finally got convinced to free herself from her guilt and tries to learn more about the world that she haven't stepped into for so long. She's also improving on herself, and try to step out from her personal comfort zone once and for all, by getting out of the forest and start her new life with others.
Kozue is often considered the "guardian" or "leader" of the group, most likely because she's the oldest; and leads the others when it comes to travelling around the country. Despite others does have to take care of her thanks to her naiveness, she is considered the one that often glues the group.

Facts
- Her last name, "Higurashi" means "sunset".
- Her first means "treetop" or "tip of a branch".
- Kozue is that oblivious to the modern world that she didn't even know about the existence of laptops and smartphones. A running joke often happens where her friends would question from which older era Kozue actually originates from.

Kokoro Hidamari
Friends
Both of them are boyish and passionate about Angel Game; that it's no wonder that Kozue and Kokoro would get along so well. Kozue also felt debted towards Kokoro, because if it wasn't for their coincidental meeting--Kozue wouldn't consider getting outside the forest at all.
Sakane Mikano
Friends
Despite being older, Kozue doesn't escape from Sakane's Angel Gaming "lessons" as Kozue herself often fights blindly and never used her powers for any battles. For some reasons, Kozue have this habit of being affectionate to Sakane, as if she's her younger sister.
Kagami Matsumoto
Friends
The closest pair among their circle despite their contrasting background and personalities. While Kozue is not the best at reassuring Kagami, they both tend to understand each other well--most likely for sharing the same age and being the oldest among the circle.
