Trivia:
  • Kokoro's speech bubble color is #91D1FF. She is associated with the color blue.
  • Kokoro's initial design was inspired by Defoko, an Utauloid. Defoko's robotic voice was an inspiration for Kokoro's robotic nature.
  • Kokoro was the fifth character of Chimera Heart's main cast to be created, having been created on December 21, 2015.
  • Kokoro competes in volleyball and basketball.
  • Kokoro's backstory is greatly inspired by the Toraboruta-P song of the same name.
  • Kokoro is the third character to have their separate character arc introduced, after Mazenta and Kashi. Her character arc reflects on her robotic self and how it affects her, for better or for worse.
  • Despite being physically 18 years old, Kokoro is a junior in high school. Because of her robotic being, Kokoro doesn't age naturally.

Design Notes:

  • Kokoro's hair is very short, just falling about midway down her neck. She can pull it back into a small ponytail, and usually does so when competing or in her Starrior trainee outfit.
  • Kokoro can be drawn in any outfit she is seen wearing in Chimera Heart. If you decide to do a different outfit, please be wary of her clothing preferences! For example, Kokoro does NOT like wearing jeans, and would prefer to wear something more comfortable like shorts, leggings, or sweatpants.
  • Kokoro's eye pupils are dark blue, NOT black.

Personality:

Kokoro is an athletic android with a passion for music. She loves to compete in sports, especially basketball. Because of her technological being, she is usually the one to provide information and context to the others. She is very dedicated to the Crest of the Stars, and is looking forward to becoming a Starrior someday. However, she tends to beat herself up whenever things don't go her way, and she can let her insecurities get the best of her. Nonetheless, Kokoro will push herself to get through whatever's troubling her.

Powers and Abilities:

Kokoro is an android. Because she is Synthetic, she cannot learn unnatural magics. However, because of her technological being, she possesses these abilities:

- Holographic Projection: Kokoro can unveil a blue touchscreen on her forearm that can project 2D holographic images and touchscreens.

- Laser Cannon Profiency: Kokoro's left forearm can transform into a laser cannon. This can shoot two types of lasers. Blue lasers simply stun and have a painful, yet temporary effect on a person, while pink lasers can actually blast through matter. (However, the pink lasers are only to be used in a matter of life or death.)

- Flight: In her Starrior outfit, Kokoro can hover.

Backstory (Spoilers):

Kokoro was developed by Taimu’s father with the intention of fighting as a Starrior within the Crest of the Stars Android Squadron. Due to health complications that plagued Taimu’s father, he was unable to become a Starrior, and instead worked to build and develop androids.

Kokoro was developed with what androids were rarely equipped with at the time: the ability to feel emotions. Taimu’s father described her as his “magnum opus,” and due to his lack of friends in his younger years, Taimu and her quickly became friends. As Kokoro was perfected, the relationship between her and Taimu turned romantic.

Taimu and Kokoro promised each other that they would become Starriors together in order to make Taimu’s father proud. Unfortunately, due to his health complications, Taimu’s father passed before Kokoro and Taimu even became trainees.

Now a trainee, Kokoro eagerly awaits the day she becomes a Starrior and can fulfill the purpose she was (literally) built for.

History in Chimera Heart (Spoilers):

Arc 1

Kokoro lives with Taimu and Mazenta in House #13. When Ita, Kashi, Una, and Faji move in, Kokoro introduces herself to the group in a friendly tone. As the others claim their bedrooms, Kokoro says that hers and Mazenta’s rooms have already been claimed, since their rooms needed special modifications to suit their needs.

The next morning, Kokoro laughs and blushes as Taimu strikes a pose in a pink cooking apron. At lunch at school, when the others say what sports and activities they want to participate in, Kokoro says that she wants to be on the volleyball and dance teams. When Prima says she wants to be on the dance team too, Kokoro high-fives her. Ita announces to the group that she wants to be a cheerleader, but Kokoro warns her about the cheer team’s captain, Nea.

After school, the members of House #13 are talking amongst themselves, and Faji and Una argue over whether or not Celestia Starship, a famous pop star, is a Starrior. Ita and Kashi reveal that they don’t know who Celestia Starship is, and Kokoro excitably tells them about her, showing them pictures. Shortly after this, Yami hijacks the television signal, proclaiming war on society and the Crest of the Stars. Kokoro is concerned and confused at her message.

In Chapter 6, Kokoro defines the meaning of “nonliving species” to the group after Mazenta discovers she herself is nonliving. Mazenta then tells the group the story of first waking up, swimming to Amai Island, and then meeting Kokoro, who was on a Starrior training mission. Kokoro initially mistook Mazenta for a monster, almost shooting her with her laser cannon. When she realizes she’s a mermaid, she gets excited, starting to file a rare species report, but Mazenta starts to cry, causing Kokoro to realize that she’s scaring her. Because Mazenta was all alone in the ocean, Kokoro offers to take her in. Kokoro was even the one who gave Mazenta her name.

In Chapter 7, the group attends the football game to support Kashi. Taimu is the only one who isn’t dressed to the student section theme of neon, so Kokoro gets a glowstick bracelet and puts it on his wrist so he can technically be “dressed up” for the theme. However, Kokoro and Taimu’s time at the game is short-lived, because shortly after kickoff, they receive a ping from the Crest of the Stars to go on a training mission on account of reports of shadow monster sightings. Kokoro and Taimu promise to be back before the end of the game to give the others a ride home, but the game ends, and they haven’t returned. Kokoro texts Una to let them know that the training mission’s taking longer than usual, and Una, Faji, Mazenta, Kashi, and Ita will have to get a ride home from someone else.

After this group gets attacked by a shadow monster, confronted by Yami’s Army members, and then saved by Starriors, Taimu and Kokoro get to the scene late, seeing that the shadow monster had already been defeated. Ita is shocked that Taimu and Kokoro know the Starriors, and Kokoro states that they’ve been training for months to become Starriors themselves.

When the group returns home, Ita is fascinated by her encounter with the Starriors. Kokoro starts to explain some things about Starriors to her, including how to become one. Kashi and Ita get into an argument, causing Kashi to accidentally bring up the Fire of Mythenhaft and Ita to storm off. Mazenta says she doesn’t know about the Fire, causing Kokoro to explain the event to the group. Kashi decides to go talk to Ita, sprouting his wings in the house and flying upstairs. Taimu starts to scold him for it, but Kokoro stops him, asking him to allow Kashi “just this once.”

Arc 2

When the lunchtime group is talking about homecoming, Kokoro says that she’s going with Taimu because they’ve been dating for over a year. She also encourages Yosei to ask out a boy she’s been thinking about asking.

At the homecoming dance, Taimu and Kokoro go and dance together throughout the night.

As the semester progresses and autumn goes on, Kokoro continues to tell Ita about Starrior stuff. In Chapter 13, Kokoro helps Ita train for her Basic Magics final. Ita jokes about Kokoro being a robot, causing Kokoro to freeze a bit, but she shakes it off.

In Chapter 16, Nea taunts Kokoro for being a robot. This is shown to affect her performance in a basketball game, and after Ita calls her "a machine" for scoring a basket, it triggers Kokoro to the point that she has to step out of the game. However, she claims it to be just a malfunction in her system. Later that night, Taimu gives her an inspection, but quickly realizes that Kokoro's system isn't the problem. When Taimu asks about her emotions, Kokoro snaps at him, stating that a robot like her wasn't meant to feel human emotions. Kokoro threatens him with her laser cannon, so Taimu allows her some space. In her emotional outburst, Kokoro uses a screwdriver to impale her forearm, rendering her laser cannon useless.

Later that evening, Kokoro gets an alert from the Crest about a potential threat in the area. Kokoro sneaks out, but not before silencing Taimu's alert notification that he slept through. Ita spots Kokoro leaving the house, and when she goes out to confront her, Kokoro literally pushes Ita away, telling her that she needs to do this alone. Although Kokoro somewhat regrets leaving Ita behind, she sternly motivates herself that she doesn't need to bother others with her problems.

Moments later, Kokoro finds Yami. The two fight, but without her laser cannon, Kokoro quickly realizes that she's screwed. She loses her damaged arm in the scuffle, and as she calls for help on her phone, Yami greatly damages Kokoro's body and puts her "out of commission." Using the phone call, Ita and Taimu track down Kokoro and recover her body. Taimu assures Ita that Kokoro will be okay.

Arc 3

Kokoro spends the first part of Arc 3 “out of commission.” Taimu spends around a month fixing her.

When Kokoro gets fixed, she is powered on in front of all of the members of House 13. She awakes with a jolt, and tearfully recollects on her last moments before getting damaged. Embracing Taimu, she apologizes for her impulsive behavior and letting those thoughts control her. Taimu comforts her, telling her that it doesn’t matter what others think of her and that she is one of the most “human” beings he knows. He will always stay by her side because he loves her. Kokoro chuckles and calls him a dork before the two share a kiss. When she realizes that she was out of commission for a month, she panics and worries that her basketball coach is “gonna kill her” causing everyone to laugh.

After Yosei goes missing, Kokoro promises that the Crest is doing everything they can to find her. Kara shows up to House 13 unexpectedly during a late night blizzard, confessing to Mazenta that she is a member of Yami’s Army. Kokoro gets in-between the two, arming her laser cannon at Kara and telling her to stay back. Mazenta steps in front of the cannon, begging Kokoro to hear Kara out. When Kara explains to Taimu, Kokoro, and Mazenta that she just wants to tell her side of things, Taimu agrees to let her. Kokoro is still suspicious of Kara and keeps her cannon armed, wondering if they should get an actual Starrior to conduct the interrogation. Taimu disagrees as he worries that a Starrior presence would cause Kara to become quiet.

Kokoro sits to Karami’s left during the interrogation. When Kara refuses to answer where the Army base camp is, Kokoro attempts to argue, but Taimu reminds her that Karami does not have to answer any questions that she does not want to. Per Mazenta’s request, Taimu allows Karami to spend the night on the condition that him and Kokoro supervise in the living room.

Taimu is Kokoro's boyfriend of over a year. Kokoro tends to get very giggly around him, because despite his usual serious demeanor, Taimu is always trying to make her smile.

Ita is Kokoro's friend and housemate. Ita constantly asks her about Starriorship, to which Kokoro loves to feed her enthusiasm.

Mazenta is Kokoro's friend and housemate. After discovering Mazenta on the shores of Amai Island during a training mission, Kokoro offered to take Mazenta in, and have been living together since.
