Profile
Brief Summary
Patch is a member of the main Dracopian stronghold, which is known officially by affiliates and members of the VU as Costal Cliffside Cavern Systems of Terranfold. He is a low-ranking Bluehide who is technically of age for their sorting Trials, which are hosted every turn in order to place young adults into their permanent fields within in the colony. He stands at about 3.2 meters, which is considered tall for a Dracopian of his rank. The average Bluehide reaches around 2.8-3 meters. He is healthy and not particularly special for a member of his species, however, he has a talent as an Empath, a typical Greenhide ability. He has a very friendly disposition, though his Dracopian peers alienate him due to his open-minded and passive attitute towards other races. While most Dracopians see other tribes as nothing but nuisances or enemies, Patch finds his multi-cultural friends to be very interesting and worth his care and attention. He spends a great deal of his free time playing storytelling and roleplaying games with his friends online. He has tunnel maintenance duties, combat training, and the tail-end of his studies to contend with when he's busy.
Personality
Aside from being especially friendly and open-minded, Patch is very sensitive to how others around him feel and it often alters his mood. His Empath ability is both a bit of a gift and a curse. For instance, due to his pacifist nature, if he is stuck dealing with a heated confrontation, he goes into a panic crippled by the sudden swell of negative emotions. He does try to delegate while he isn't in the thick of it however. Patch is constantly looking for the solutions that will benefit everyone, or at the very least, harm no one. He has a thirst for adventure, even though he is easily frightened by the dangers he might face. He loves telling and hearing stories most of all, or the occasional board and/or card game. He has a mortal terror of Silverfish, which are massive insectoid beasts nearly twice the size of grizzly bears that constantly attack the complex from the west. He is afraid of heights and the ocean, moreso the former than the later. He is easily manipulated, as he is quick to trust anyone with a friendly smile to offer. He is bright, easy to pick up on things, but kind of clumsy. If anything though, he's pretty fast should he ever need to run.
History
Dracopians are born in intervals, as eggs can remain inactive until exposed to a certain amount of heat for turns on end before hatching. They are typically hatched in turn-based waves, Patch being one of perhaps a hundred newborn Dracopians born on the same day. The only rank that can be determined before hatching is a Goldhide, whose eggs gleam with the same color as their hide, so he wasn't sorted until the day he was hatched into the cavern complex reserved for young Violethides and Bluehides. As part of the lower rank in society, he and the others were taught from a very young age how to endure and fight, though due to recent ammendments from the monarchy, they now have rights to be both educated and supplied like those of the higher ranks. He was born at the turn of the century, when the Vastrians United guild recognized the Dracopians as a civilization and world power, which meant that a lot of the oppression his fellow lowhides had to deal with was finally being lifted away--to an extent. They are still often recruited straight into the military after their Trials, under the excuse that their ranks are the best suited for war. While they treat their young lowhides better, as adults they still end up doing the same thing their ancestors have always done--dying for the good of the colony.
Patch also grew up with new technology granted by the VU in order to help excellerate the Dracopians into the new age. A wireless communications network developed through a joint effort of existing VU allied tribes and their Guildmaster. Dracopians access this network through trunktops (essentially desktops) or chestbooks (portable computers), which project interactive screens and come with a headpiece that uses a Dracopian's inherent telepathy for every command/message. Using this technology, which he and his generation were most adept with, Patch was able to make friends with dragons from other tribes.
While he spent a great deal of his childhood chatting and playing with these friends, he neglected to make any real friends among his own people. His siblings and cousins found him strange, almost defective. Even his caretaker seemed to be aprehensive about tending to him. He grew up cherishing dragons he never met in person, wishing that someday he could leave the complex and set out to find them someday.
