"Angel Game! KOKORO" Synopsis

"Angel Game"--It's said to be a game where one could gain the ability to control powerful elements by having a magical, circle-shaped symbol on their left hand called the "Angel's Heart". However, it was discovered that the price you pay to play this game is by having a certain "misfortune"; and that alone became the reason why the game is frowned upon society--saying it's the source of these misfortunes or the sign of an upcoming war between mankind. One day, Kokoro found herself owning the rumored Angel's Heart...after facing her biggest loss...

Another student from the Angel Gamers-only boarding school; St. Angel. He seems to be a close friend of Kureha, and was grouped with Rai and Ayumu for a certain assignment. A "hunter" who constantly challenges other Angel Gamers often with the promise of monetary rewards, and often claims himself as the "strongest" student in the school.

Personality

Confident
Strong motivation
Hidden kinder side
Egoistic
Grouchy
Overly high standards

From the get-go, Kiyo appears to be someone who's very arrogant and egoistical, often bragging about being "the strongest" and willing to (either physically or verbally) argue with anyone who disagrees with him. Kiyo is especially known for starting random fights (via Angel Game) with others, regardless if the said opponent is a newbie or expert, often betting money as the reward upon victory.

Ironically enough, due to his competitive personality, certain people tend to find his presence obnoxious and see him as nothing more than a mere eyesore and even becoming the butt of jokes, much to Kiyo's own dismay. There's also apparently certain rumors that often paints him as someone greedy, as no one seems to know why he almost seems desperate to start random fights solely for money--albeit that seems to be far from the truth.

In reality, Kiyo does not really hide his more kinder and caring side, though it's more of the fact that Kiyo's own aggressive self tends to overshadow who he truly is, especially with how he rarely has any other friends that he doesn't frequently pick a fight with. This is especially shown by the fact that Kiyo can be quite an overprotective person, especially towards his best friend Kureha; whom he actually looks out for and have an almost familial-like bond with.

Backstory

Warning: Contains mentions of child abuse.

As much as Kiyo is secretive of his past, the only implication many tends to assume of his misfortunes were the visible burn scars on his body.

View spoiler

In the past, the 11-years-old Kiyo had to live in a poor family with his alcoholic and gambling obsessed father, who often physically abuses both him and his mother out of frustration. As Kiyo was still young, he always felt like he was never brave or strong enough to defend his mother or himself. Kiyo was basically forced to live through insults and slanders towards himself or his family for years...but that all changed after one unfortunate incident happened.

One of his dad's gambling sessions somehow resulted the whole village to be burn down, sacrificing many lives and properties--including Kiyo's own father who accidentally died by his own fire. Kiyo ends up receiving his Angel's Heart from the unprecedented tragedy, which was followed by both him and his mother being expelled from the village after the fire was took down. Since then, Kiyo have determined that he doesn't want to be someone hopeless, weak, and unable to protect everyone again--that he later enrolled to St. Angel, wanting to become stronger and overcome his fears.

Current story

The real reason behind Kiyo actively seeking money and beating other opponents is mostly to afford living by his own after the tragedy that happened with him and his mother. He also used the said money to fund surgeries towards all the visible scars and injuries on his body. However, Kiyo is not one dares to admit his own interpersonal issues to anyone and tends to keep his backstories a secret--so much that he would rather let others perceive him as someone obnoxious and power-hungry.

Kiyo also promised to become stronger so that his own past wouldn't repeat again, especially now that he vowed to protect his family, and now, his friend Kureha from any further misfortunes.

In Kokoro's side; Kiyo is portrayed as one of the major antagonists for the 2nd arc--although surprisingly enough; he seems to be one of the least villainous especially when compared to Rai or Ayumu.

Relationships

Kureha Kurosaki

Close friends

Kiyo and Kureha are almost barely seen separated at first--most likely because Kiyo have been taking care of him ever since Kureha's woken up from his memory loss. As Kureha is pretty much Kiyo's one and only friend, he's still the only person who Kiyo never shows a belligerent attitude with. Unironically, Kureha also admires and praises Kiyo's strength.

Ayumu Yukishiro

1996923?1673270572

Enemies

Kiyo really never gets along with either Rai or Ayumu; but his relationship with Ayumu are straight up considered a bad blood. As both of them have quite the high amount of ego, they often argue and act competitive to each other--although most often than not it always ends Kiyo having to surrender because of Ayumu's threats.

Takuto

2051614?

Childhood friends

It was frequently mentioned by Kiyo that he used to be friends with Takuto around 5 years ago...? For unknown reasons, their relationship have gotten sour that Takuto also became another person that Kiyo frequently argues with--even to the point of Kiyo using memories of their past just to fuel Takuto's anger.
