About Nui
Nui's family descended from both Konohagakure and Sunagakure ninja. His grandmother moved to Konoha with her daughter young daughter Mai, and Mai fell in love with Nui's father Naoya. Mai went most of her life not realizing that her mother was a Jinchuriki, and when her mother was becoming too weak to keep Shukaku at bay Mai was very pregnant. Unfortunitally Nui's birth came at the same time Mai's grandmother lost control and Shukaku escaped. Because of Mai's weakened state she could not become the next Jinchuriki, however Nui could, and so it was done despite Mai's protests. Mai realizes they did what they had to do, but it took a toll on her and her husbands marriage. They ended up divorcing, however they still remain on friendly terms, showing a family can stay together and not be marrier successfully. They would move back and forth between Naoya and Mai's home, but they were so close it wasn't really a bother. Their parents never made them choose, and always told their children that sometimes in life two people just don't work out, and it doesn't have to be because one or the other is bad. It just happens.

Nui received lot of attention and love from his parents and uncle ever since he was little as he was the first child of the Takahashi head family. His dad wanted him so badly to be a daddy's boy, but over time it was clear that Nui resonated far more with his mother. At an early age when he was brought to stores to try on clothes, Nui would go over to the female section instead and enjoyed wearing pinks and even dresses. His father had a hard time accepting this at first, but his mother never faltered, and as soon as Naoya started accepting and respecting his choices they became closer than ever. Nui however prefers to be referred to as he/him/they, and his parents (especially his mother) would be more than happy to fight anyone who had a problem with it.

His younger brother, Iyashi, was born about a year after himself, and the two of them got along very well for the longest time. But with Naoya and Mai being over protective of Nui because of overcompensating for their homophobic/transphobic grandparents and the rest of the villagers fear over the demon inside Nui, the two started to drift a part a bit. This grew even worse when at a young age, Nui discovered he was Jinchuriki. His parents told him it was his secret to tell, and he could tell whoever he wanted, but that he would have to deal with consequences of that action, whatever that would be. It would be a secret he couldn't take back, and he can't control how others react. With the relationship with brother being strained as his, he decided not to tell him, and now he lives with that decision.

Iyashi didn't realize it but he was becoming resentful of Nui because of the special treatment, and the two grew apart eventually. Without even realizing it Nui began feeling guilty and ashamed whenever his parents fought for himself and began holding in his feelings. This grew even more true as Nui had to deal with Shukaku more and more on his own. Ironically, despite usually not having siblings be on the same team, when they made Genin that's exactly what happened. Perhaps their teacher could sense that they needed this, perhaps it was the random roll of dice that caused it, but in either case they're now forced to work together, and work through the hurt.

Because of the two ending up being a bit over protective, Nui ended up wanting to handle more and more stuff himself, hiding any bullying he received at school as he didn't want them to "over react". Honestly, many of the kids in his class didn't seem to have a problem with who he was or how he dressed, it was usually kids from older classes or other teachers or adults of those children that were the bullies. Nui wasn't sure how to handle adults bullying him, as... Well it didn't feel like there was much he could do. He was taught to respect his elders, but to also not take shit from anyone. So, he kept it inside, telling himself that it didn't matter, and that was true most days... But as with most people, you're not always at your best, and sometimes those words would take its toll. Nui doesn't yet realize that part of the issue isn't just transphobia, but also the fear of the demon hidden inside him.

ABILITIES
Nui is constantly being protected by sand, neither Mai nor Naoya was given much information from her grandmother on the beast, but they did study any writings they could get their hands on about the beast. They supported Nui, telling him that he had to be kind and generous to himself, and learn forgiveness for himself and others if he were to keep the beast at bay. This worked for many years, but as Nui began closing himself up the beast became stronger. Nui fears one day he won't be able to hold it back, but tries to stay strong despite it, for everyone's sake. Though most don't realize it, dirt is made of many different particles and materials, including sand. So despite being in Konohagakure, Nui is not defenseless and can still pick out sand quite easily from the ground around him, especially in emergencies. He has learned not just to harness the sand, but to use it to shift the earth as well, become a great area of effect attacker as well as amazing defender. On one on one battles he can go all out, but often holds back if his team mates are there.

Extracting sand quickly takes allot of chakra, however he carries around scroll summoning techniques that summon already chakra infused sand he's worked with before. These scrolls can summon than enough sand to work with usually, and will usually bring out these scrolls if he figures it's going to be a long fight.

He's better at fighting at a distance rather than face to face, this is a weakness he is currently working to iron out but it may take him time. He is more well rounded by the time he's Jonin.

PERSONALITY

He's charming, kind, friendly and cooperative around his friends and close people, but shows his strong, bold, and confident personality around strangers. He likes to take care of others, letting them talk for hours about their own problems, but has a hard time opening up about any issues he may be going through himself.

Good Habit(s):  He takes his training seriously and can be quite independent. He also quite generous, often taking his team mates to go eat after a hard mission, and go shopping if they'll let him drag them around.

Bad Habit(s): He has a problem with leaving others behind to do something herself, having a "If you want it done right, then I'll have to do it myself" way of thinking. This leads to under valuing her team mates, and underestimating them. He's ultra sensitive to "burdening" others around him, so he'll hold back how he's feeling to go deal with the issues at hand by himself.

Like(s): Reading love novels, baking sweets for his team and friends, shopping, cats [but currently doesn't have the time to take one in.].

Dislike(s): Opening up about his problems, someone distracting him while he's cooking or training, and the idea that things have to be "black and white". He feels laws should be used as a guideline rather than taken completely at their word, that there should be exceptions made for those in exceptional situation and hates having to execute laws that feel unjust.

  LIKES AND DISLIKES:

        Food:
Likes: Foods with unique tastes that can't be really described unless you've actually tried it.
Don't like: Bugs for food, doesn't matter how it's dressed up. He even had a hard time with crap and lobster but with the right butter and spices he can be persuaded.

        Color:
Likes: Pinks, Blues, and Greens.
Dislikes: Gray

        Animal:
Likes: Cats and Birds especially but he likes many animals.
Dislikes: Caterpillars. They freak him out for some reason.

        Hobbies:
Likes: Cooking, Dancing, Shopping, and Training
Dislikes: Cleaning, Touching Strangers, Cowboy Stereotype
