River's interpretation of Ray demonstrates a fierce persona, one who isn't afraid to speak his mind, and isn't shy of expression. Though 'mellow' may not be the best way to put it, the real 'booksmart, writing prodigy' Ray has a good sense of reserve that River does not seem to have. This comes out through often sarcastic remarks, though Ray always seems to bounce back with a deceivingly calm temper.
Grumpy may be a better way to put it, as the young man often has something to complain about. He doesn't often let his more expressive feelings show, often speaking in a monotone voice that's sure to freak anyone out of talking to him.
Ray's attitude comes from a very pragmatic train of thought- an analytical one that speaks from the mind, rather from the heart. He sees his emotions as a sign of weakness; though, he does tend to slip around his closer peers.

Background
Ray comes from a typical East Asian household, where academics were a priority. As an only child, he was given a lot of attention from his parents. His natural wits and intelligence did him well in school, and the praise would get to his head by the time he was in highschool.
Around this time was when Ray entered a strange phase of rebellion. He grew to have rather nihilistic views of society, and stopped putting effort into his academics. Even so, Ray could get away with skipping class and still pass exams with flying colors. His parents were clueless to his actions, as his lies were carefully formulated to trick the gullible adults. This caught the attention of his peers, who began to talk to him in an attempt to leech off his work.
Ray's defiant behavior would not last long, however, following apprehension during school finals. His deceitful actions would come to bite him back after one of his 'friends' tossed the blame onto him for scheming a cheating ring. As a result, his parents would receive news of Ray's nefarious actions. Fueled by rage and betrayal, they never let him out of their sight again, making sure he was on his best behavior until he graduated senior year.
If you were to ask Ray if he regretted his actions in his teens, he would say no, as it taught him a valuable lesson on trust. Though he would never go out of line again, he would be constantly reminded of the betrayal of his peers. He was a recluse for the remaining time in school, and approaching college, had the same expectations as in the past. Keeping to himself was seemingly the best option he could have.
Design
• His dreamself has brownish-red hair, as opposed to his normal, jet-black hair./p>
• Ray needs his glasses to see. Even after his injury, he wears them over his eyepatch.
• He prefers sweaters and comfortable clothes.
• He almost always wears a crimson red scarf during fall and winter.
Trivia
• He is often found snuggled up in a blanket, or wearing a comfortable sweater because he gets cold easily.
• He despises his height, and will destroy you if made fun of.
• His last name derives from the Chinese word for "bell", a subtle nod to his original last name.
• He is billingual, and can speak both English and Cantonese.

River
River is Ray's roommate and friend. He sees him as a rather bubbly person and enjoys his company as he makes up for his lack of social skills. He's just the right amount of extra energy he needs in his life, though later he regrets getting closer to the man.
Xavier
Xavier is Ray's classmate and acquaintance. The two go back to grade school, when they used to be friends. After reuniting in a mutual class, they chat semi-often regarding schoolwork and personal projects.
