A genetic experiment of dubious legality. Ave was one of the scientists who helped create Static and his siblings and was also their primary caretaker, but after a mysterious incident left the other specimens dead, Ave stole the sole remaining one and went into hiding, raising him as his own.

Static is amphibious and shares many qualities with salamanders, including metamorphosis, a carnivorous diet (he does enjoy some non-meat foods, but too much will make him sick), the ability to move comfortably on all fours, and a very impressive healing factor. Unlike salamanders, he also has an altered state, most often called "glitch mode" -- when under sufficient physical or emotional stress, his body starts to generate enormous amounts of magic, reducing him to a feral state and causing his body to lightly warp reality, giving him a glitchy appearance. Wounds also heal instantaneously, making him extremely difficult to kill. In this state he will be hostile towards just about anything that moves, though if someone manages to calm him down, he otherwise feels safe, or just exhausts himself, he will stop glitching and fall very deeply asleep for the next few hours while his body recovers.This altered state also damages his memory; he remembers almost nothing from more than a few years prior, and so far attempts to preserve his memory have been unsuccessful.

Static lives in relative isolation, fearing that otherwise he might glitch out and hurt people. He's almost certain that he has killed in his glitch mode before, and is terrified it'll happen again, though with his damaged memory he can't say for sure if this actually happened or if it's a fabrication of anxiety and uncertainty. Regardless, he stays in a small cabin in a mountain valley, where he explores the local caves and sells his findings online to make ends meet.
