Danu is a care free and optimistic individual, she deeply cares for those around. She believes that each day is precious and a new adventure, no matter how big or small. She can be too forgiving and trusts people at their word; even when they  shouldn’t be trusted. Her curious nature can get her in trouble and should her actions cause harm to others, she gets very upset and feels ashamed. She cries easily whether it be out of sadness or happiness. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is easy to read. Danu is also a terrible liar.

Other Info:

  • Danu will on occasion wear clothes as her mother would dress her up as a child.
  • She keeps a book of pressed flowers at home.
  • The purple stone necklace was given to her by her father and is her most prized possession; it started her habit of collecting things.
  • She tires more quickly than other Zora when swimming. This is due to her being a hybrid.

History: Danu spend the majority of her childhood in Tabahl Woods where she lived with her parents. Her parents were something of an oddity since her father was a Zora and her mother a Hyrulian but regardless of their differences it was always clear to her that they loved each other greatly. Living in the woods near a river gave Danu many opportunities to explore which she did often to the annoyance of her mother who preferred to keep Danu in her sight. Her father though encouraged this behavior and even took Danu out fishing with him.

However everything changed for Danu when Calamity Ganon attacked. A Hinox came across their home and while her father tried to fight off the monster, Danu's mother hid her away and told her not to come out. So she sat hidden away under the floor boards of their home listening to all the noise above; when the noise finally stopped Danu tried to leave her hiding spot only to find the house had collapsed on top of her. With a lot of time and effort Danu was finally able to dig her way out but once she did she couldn't find either of her parents near by. She was completely alone.

The frightened child called out for her parents and looked around a little, not straying too far from the ruins of her home. She stayed there for hours calling out for her parents to the point her voice was nothing but a whisper and her throat was raw. Eventually she saw something but it wasn't her parents, it was the monster returning and Danu, without thinking, bolted for the river. Hearing the Hinox behind her roar and it's thundering foot steps chasing after her spurned her on and with luck she managed to reach the river before the monster could snatch her up.

Below the surface, in the cool safety of the water, she watched the Hinox pace around before giving up and leaving. Danu felt her body finally relax but she was so tired from everything that had happened that she passed out in the water and was taken away by the current. She later woke up far from home in Telta Lake and looked around from the surface of the lake to try and figure out where she was. Taking in all the unknown scenery made her realize just how bad her situation really was; she was lost, alone and her parents were gone. Danu started to cry quietly but her cries became louder with each passing minute. Unlike many children left behind in the wake of Calamity Ganon, Danu was saved for her fate by some passing Hyrulians who were on their way to Kakariko Village. They had heard her cries and, while surprised to find a Zora child, did their best to calm her down and reassure her. It didn't take long for Danu to cling to one of them and agree to go to Kakariko Village.

After Danu arrived in the village everyone debated what should be done. Danu had never been to the Zora Domain and it was far too dangerous to travel there so the best solution was that she would stay in the village. For along time Danu was miserable but it was understandable as she had lost her family and her home. Over time she opened up to the people there and learned a lot about how to take care of herself. She also took an interest in flowers and herbs, learning how to create medicine with them. Danu remained in Kakariko even as an adult, only leaving to fish in the rivers and has become very attached to Impa who she sees as a teacher.

Notes:

  • Danu's design is based off of dolphins.
  • She gets her short height from her mother and because of this Danu is a bit smaller than regular Zora.
