Backstory

I am Qirri of Pazz

Though trouble may follow me, I overcome it with charm. I'm a graduate first rank of the College of Dynamics.

My first invention was the MED-1 golem, and one day, I will finally manage to surpass the genius of my famous mentor, the Synergetics prodigy Zojja.

I'm an engineer, and you'll never find me without my universal multitool pack at hand.

This is my story.

My Journey Begins

I was largely considered a child prodigy. Though my fragile health made it difficult for me to participate in the more rigorous progeny classes, I didn't need them nearly as much as many of my peers, and by thirteen I was being entered as a student into the College of Dynamics. Two whole years ahead of schedule! I excelled in my classes, to be certain, but one fateful day during my fifteenth year, I suffered a serious episode in one of my classes and the dean convinced my parents to make me take a year off, even though I was on track to graduate early!

In my frustration over my "house arrest," I wrote to my next oldest sister Rissia, who came to visit almost as soon as she'd received it. She brought with her a bag, told me to be good, and then she was gone. The contents of that bag? Enough gold to buy solid leather armor and a weapon, as well as a note indicating she'd paid off a gate tech to get me to the Black Citadel. She'd provided me with a means of escape!

It took some doing to convince my mother to at least let me go out to the Accountancy Level, and after grabbing MED-1 with my nebulizer and medication stocked inside, I headed there to finally set my plan into action. Buying some armor and a rifle, I quickly made my way to the gate tech Rissia mentioned in her note, and he changed the tuning just for a one way trip. With a single step through, I found myself in the heavy noon sun of Ascalon. I immediately set out on my way towards the wall, and on my way slid into a ravine. It would have been fine, but the next thing I knew, I heard a Flame Legion charr scouring the underbrush for me. He'd heard me fall!

I was certain, then, that I was done for. But all of a sudden, another charr burst out of the tall grass, placing himself over me like a protective cage as his river drake rushed the Flame Legionnaire. It gave me just enough time to get to my rifle and take a shot. It didn't kill the legionnaire, but it did scare him off. I learned my unlikely rescuer's name was Garrus Firstblood, and he was setting off on a journey of his own. After hearing my story, he decided to let me travel with him. I think it's the start of a phenomenal friendship!

The Rest of the Story

In the time following Qirri's fateful first meeting with the charr Garrus Firstblood, she's done a lot. She joined the Durmand Priory as a junior researcher, and just after she turned sixteen was present at the assault on Claw Island. She recalls it as one of the most terrifying experiences of her life, and has never quite been able to put it behind her. All the same, she stayed determined, accompanying the small guild Misfits Incorporated in fighting and defeating the terrifying Elder Dragon Zhaitan. In the wake of the earth-shattering fight, she finally returned to Rata Sum to finish college, graduating at sixteen and proceeding to join a few different krewes... none of which stuck, all expecting the young prodigy to do all the work for them that would launch the rest of them to greatness.

It was during this time that she was back in Rata Sum that Scarlet Briar launched her attack on Lion's Arch, and sometime in the aftermath Vezz and Rissia brought the young Synergetics prodigy Taimi to stay with Rissia's family while they sorted out some things in the city. Though the two were very close in age, they were initially quite wary of one another, but after a tentative question from Qirri about Scruffy, the two hit it off, catching like fire to kindling and becoming fast friends. Their friendship only tightened as the guild moved into Maguuma, and Qirri was the staunchest supporter of Vezz's taking on Taimi as his ward.

Unfortunately, sometime during the lead-up to the fight against Mordremoth, Qirri picked up an illness in the jungle... one she kept hidden from her friends and sister until, immediately after the battle was won, she collapsed with a terrible fever. Her subsequent recovery required her to be away from the fight for much of the hunt for Lazarus, though she met up with the guild again in Elona, finally starting the Dragonwatch Krewe as its krewe chief. It was only a krewe of three at first, with just her, Taimi, and another guildmate named Zanthe, but it was the best thing she'd experienced in her short life.

She isn't sure if it was fortune or bad luck that caused a minor illness to send her back to Amnoon for treatment some time after Balthazar's defeat, however, but it meant she was not present when Taimi was kidnapped by the Lich King Joko. She feels a great deal of guilt over this, and though she's never said as much to Taimi, she wouldn't have blamed her if she'd been angry with her after she was rescued. Regardless, she was just happy to see her friends again, throwing herself back into her work as the krewe grew by two in Gorrik and Blish, friends Taimi had made at college.

In the wake of Kralkatorrik's defeat, and the tragic loss of Blish, Vezz and Rissia finally stepped down as co-commanders, citing Vezz's crumbling mental health. And Qirri, loathe to let Garrus go it alone, immediately decided to travel alongside him. She was present for the deaths of Jormag and Primordus, something she's still feeling immensely overwhelmed by, and was called on to help Gorrik when his ex Ankka came into the picture. Though the airship crash in Cantha exacerbated her condition, she continued to press forward, and even managed some advancements to her tech during the hunt for Ankka and the struggle to overcome Soo-Won and the Void

Though she's exhausted, Qirri recently did celebrate her 26th birthday, partly by finally entering into an actual relationship with Taimi. But she doesn't have much time to celebrate- there's trouble in Gyala Depths, and she's got to try to keep it together to help Garrus sort out what's really going on down there...

Relationships

Rissia of Pazz

  • Age: 33.
  • Qirri's next oldest sister.
  • Married to Vezz of Cautti.
  • Synergetics graduate.

The third youngest of Pazz and Tixzi's four daughters, Rissia is Qirri's next oldest sister and one of her favorite people in the whole world. Rissia's intervention got her out of her impromptu "house arrest," and though she knows her older sister worries about her out in the world on her own, she also knows she'd never make her do something she didn't want to do. Throughout Qirri's journey, her sister has been there nearly as much as Garrus has been, and Qirri's certain she never would have been able to do as much as she did without her sister's guidance.

Previously, Rissia had been one of the co-commanders of the Pact, though she has more recently stepped down as Vezz's mental health had started to degrade. After they'd settled, she then discovered she was pregnant, so all in all? Probably for the best that she'd stepped down already.

Garrus Firstblood

  • Age: 36.
  • The current, active commander.
  • Qirri's first friend outside her family.
  • Ash Legion charr.

The first friend Qirri ever made out in the great wide world after she ran away from home, Garrus has been a near constant companion for Qirri in her travels. His age compared to hers often had him treating her like a little sister, though there was a considerable learning curve between the two of them when they met, considering a fifteen year old asura is very different from a fifteen year old charr. Still, they've remained incredibly close, and they even developed something of a catchphrase between them, with Qirri's answer to if she's ready to do something always being "indubitably."

Currently, Garrus is the only acting Commander, and Qirri can see that it's gotten to him far more than he's been willing to admit. As much as it's gotten to her too, however, she won't back down as long as he might need her. What that means for them in the long run is hard to say at this point.

Taimi

  • Age: 23.
  • Zojja's second apprentice.
  • Qirri's best friend turned girlfriend.
  • Synergetics prodigy.

From the moment they met when Taimi was 14 and Qirri was 17, the pair has been thick as thieves. Making fast friends when they were introduced during one of Vezz and Rissia's trips to Rata Sum during the events of early LWS2, the pair has been nearly inseperable ever since, keeping in touch even when circumstances keeps them separated. As they've gotten older, they've started the Dragonwatch Krewe together, and they've only gotten closer over time. Between the two of them, they've landed on a considerable amount of inventions, and their momentum hasn't slowed.

As of the end of EoD, Qirri and Taimi are the first two members of the Dragonwatch Krewe to have started dating, though there's machinations from both of them for Zanthe and Gorrik. Taimi has also recently started to worry a lot more as Qirri's health has again begun taking a downward turn.

Lightbringer Zanthe

  • Age: 27.
  • The krewe's "muscle."
  • Pining for about 84 years.
  • Synergetics dropout.

Zanthe was a late addition to the Misfits Incorporated guild, though he started to fit right in quite quickly. And from the start, he developed quite a crush on Qirri, even if he was never sure how to admit it. A young revenant, he started out largely just supporting the guild as an extra bit of muscle, but after a time, he got brought in to the Dragonwatch Krewe with Taimi and Qirri. Qirri thinks very highly of him and often tries to get him to engage with krewe activities, even after the krewe's move with Garrus to Cantha, she encourages him as best she can.

Sometimes Zanthe's past makes him a little uncertain, and his skill as a revenant keeps him stand-offish from the others, but his work with other revenants in the guild like Rytlock and Deshauna has helped him... along with Qirri's constant championing of his skills and abilities.
