Description

Cera is a goblin tribe leader and the strongest bounty hunter in all of Faerûn who is on a secret mission to prevent the cataclysm known as Ragnarok. She is infectiously optimistic and chipper, and while usually driven by passion rather than by anger, she proves to be a fierce and intimidating opponent to many. Cera enjoys collecting weaponry and doing battle, but she has a code against hurting the weak or innocent - a code so strict that not even her loyal goblin cohorts dare to betray it. Her best friend is the archpriest, Maxi, and both this association and her unique outlook on life caught the attention of his Morninglord, Lathander, whom now occasionally pays her visits throughout her adventures. She frequently travels throughout the Sword Coast to take advantage of the changing seasons, but she is known for always honing her body, usually by exercising or hunting criminals and game. Cera is a towering amazon with short brown and tan fur, along with vibrant red hair and deep blue eyes, and her fighting style consists of chaotic, powerful blows.

Story

Prologue

It was a late night when a druid monastery in Icewind Dale was raided by a tribe of goblins. As a last resort, many of the members joined hands to summon a fey to aid them in the battle, only to find they were too short of time. Now surrounded, the druids would watch a mishap take form; a protector which had the intimating presence, strong stature, and even apperance of a reindeer. Some of the goblins surrendered, some of the goblins retreated, and the rest perished for testing the creature's patience. The druids thanked their new companion for her help while being escorted to safety, but the creature's insatiable hunger for adventure ultimately led to her choosing to part ways with the sages and track down the goblins who escaped. Confronted once more, the goblins would have no choice to submit as she deemed herself their new leader, which was the start of a new era full of adventure. Known by now as Cera, the reindeer grew more curious of the elemental primal magic that created her and the lands and weather beyond the tundra she had always been bound to. It was then when she started the tradition to part ways with her tribe and explore the Sword Coast during the days of summer and spring as a bounty hunter for sport.

Upon one of her first jobs, she was tasked to hunt down a young priest known as Maxi in Neverwinter Wood, whom was presumably behind the murder of a famous local paladin. This spiraled into a deadly duel between the two, but it would come to an end when Cera would prove to be too inexperienced in fighting against his fiery divine magic. Through calm conversation, she would realize the cleric's innocence, and the two naive adventurers would walk sharing respect for one another before going on to become best friends. Cera would frequently visit his cabin, where the two would train and fish together, until Maxi would get the opprotunity to embark on a quest of his own to explore his divine powers and aid the nearby village of Phandalin; however, he would soon return to the forest, clearly troubled after he revealed that the adventurers he traveled with found him more trouble than he was worth. Reaffirming her friend, Cera took out her maps and told Maxi to travel to Candlekeep, a library fortress she had since heard about in passing, where he could potentially be taught to wield his power further, while she would travel to Phandalin to face his unfinished buisness. Thats when then two would part ways, both now full of ambition and ready to explore the lands of Faerûn at large.

Various Adventures - 1493 DR, Levels 1-20

Cera and her new companions' story began with the Lost Mines of Phandelver module adventure, which was conquered like Cera foretold, and she would earn the title of Queen of the Sword Mountains through a drinking contest with them before they would later go on to work together to decide on her full name. While new friends would then board a spelljammer ship to go on an adventure through the astral plane, where they would befriend a psionic-wielding knight from the feywild named Atum and together save a hub city from an incredibly infamous crew of pirates, Cera would stay on the material plane and visit Maxi at Candlekeep, showing no interest in the seemingly emptiness of space.

After Atum returned home and Cera reunited with her companions, one last unexpected adventure ensues when the party learns they have being watched by a group of evil gods, spearheaded by that of Loki, whom were working together to annihilate Faerûn while hindering the heroes as they raced to stop them. During this quest, the party would cross paths with a Deck of Many Things, in which Cera would pull the Moon card, where she would desire to be "the strongest bounty hunter in Faerûn" and have her wish seemingly granted, but then she would pull the Donjon card and suddenly disappear to the horror of her friends. Atum would return from the feywild after sensing the party was in trouble, and after discovering Cera was trapped in the Donjon Sphere back on the astral plane, they would together begin preparing a rescue mission - which is where the campaign has since left off.

Trivia

  • Cera's Magic: the Gathering colors are red and green.
  • The druidic ritual that created Cera suggests her to be part fey, given the sages were intially anticipating a summon from the feywild. These special ties play a part in Lathander's particular interest in her due to them reminding him of his home plane, the House of Nature.
  • Cera's design was originally created for an art contest before I started playing D&D, only later repurposed to create the character she is today.
