Dr. Leucine S. Naturae

Summary

An immortal doctor and surgeon, approximately 1200 years old in her current state. She is an easy-going, flighty hedonist and practical joker. As a member of the Fallen (aka Old Gods, aka devils), Leucine is anatomically human, but capable of total physical regeneration and advanced psychokinesis. Her psychokinetic ability seems to be undoing injuries. She is also proudly gay as hell.

Within Rue and Woe world, she is the second-in-command of Balonz (The Horse), her longtime best friend, as well as close friends with The Locust. She is more mature and tame in this setting than in WCH, but still kind of a weirdo.

Within the WCH continuity, she is Head of Surgery at Wolcrasi Medical, but is too irresponsible to bother to oversee anything (Chiharu Matsuda picks up most of the slack as unofficial organizer). She is much more useful as a surgeon than an administrator or a diagnostician, as she is the second-best surgeon after Virtus and handles the most difficult cases when he is not available.

Her hobbies vary widely, having had over a millenium to try nearly everything under the sun. The ones she sticks with most though, are pranking people, and finding new foods & drinks to try.

Leucine was formerly an orthopedic specialist, but nowadays is well-versed in all fields of surgery due to 1000+ years of experience. Her specialty is now emergency surgery in general. Her theoretical knowledge of medicine is excellent, but not nearly as advanced as her long experience would suggest, due to a lack of interest in theory, as well as self-inflicted memory problems.

Details (warning: mild spoilers for Rue and Woe)

It is not known why Leucine was once known as The Fly. Possibly it could be because of her medical background, so she would be surrounded by corpses. Or perhaps something else long forgotten.

Leucine is chiefly known for her main psychokinetic ability: healing. She can "reset" any change in health and memory (i.e. injuries) of any living being within about 20 meters of her, as long as she witnesses (sight or sound both count) the change/injury that she is negating. It does not work on brain-dead people or nonliving objects, nor does it change the location or velocity of a living being, only its internal state. Any objects (such as shrapnel, poison, sutures) that entered the person during the reversed timeframe are ejected. It also always deletes the target's memories up until the reset point. In practice, it is only good for removing very recent injuries or memories, and she cannot select what is reversed, only how far back it can be reversed. She also has a considerably more powerful version of this ability, whose details are confidential, but it also has a very limited range and timeframe as well as other drawbacks.

Leucine uses and abuses this healing ability constantly. It comes in handy for surgery (undoing mistakes or going on short but still-ethical medical experiments), and of course, hilarious shenanigans. She also is fond of erasing her own memories, either to forget something unpleasant or experience something pleasant for the first time again. Constant self-inflicted amnesia unfortunately ended up swiss-cheesing other parts of her own long-term memory, so unlike other devils, who have perfect recall, Leucine forgets things a *lot*.

She works as a surgeon and also a combat medic. Her original specialty was orthopedics, but she eventually branched out into emergency surgery in general after a few centuries on the job. Her pranks are the reason why her colleagues have one of the best medical records and organization in the world, to compensate for when she decides to wipe memories for giggles. Most of them don't like her very much.

That sickle is very sharp, but she doesn't hit people with it. It appears to be a sentimental keepsake and psychological focus. Leucine would rather other people do her dirty work while she undoes their injuries mid-fight, and also confuses enemies by wiping some of their memories. Anyone on her side tends to get a bit reckless knowing they are nearly invulnerable (and won't even remember painful wounds) while she is supporting them.

Unlike most other devils, who are very strong-willed, Leucine is really easy-going and willing to get along with events and people. She's unambitious, irresponsible, and mostly an idiot outside of her specialty. That said, on the rare occasions she is set on wanting something, she reveals a rarely-seen stubbornness and ruthlessness. She is also one of the few beings in existence able to look like a skank while 90% clothed. She is very proud of this. Her diabolic vice is exotic food and drink.

No one knows where the hell the tail came from. All other devils and even some demons don't have anything quite like it.

*Note: Those purple "horns" on her ponytail are a conveniently-shaped bow. I'm not sure I managed to get that across.
