Trivia
- Stratus wears a permanent electronic paintjob.
- Said paintjob can be disabled by a heavy shock- courtesy of an internal control mechanism by her Decepticon bosses.
- Her optics cannot change- because of this, while undercover she wears her goggles down.
Am I... Really good?
An extremely young recruit to the Decepticon cause, Stratus was formerly a low level intelligence officer, hiding in the background and collecting data on nearby Elite Guardsmen. That all changed after her circumstances severely shifted and her mission was forever altered.
Help
Status always kept her helm low and flew under the radar. She did everything she could to keep herself out of trouble when it came to the brewing Decepticon uprising. That didn't last long as she eventually found herself caught in the crossfire of a battle between the Guard and Megatron's forces. Trapped within the rubble and severely damaged, Stratus managed to hide her Con insignia and activate her electronic paintjob to more... appealing colours, knowing which side was likely prevailing.
Sure enough, Stratus wound up found by another young bot named Hot Shot, the youngest member of Team Athenia. Claiming her Autobot emblem was lost in the destruction and she was just an unfortunate bystander, the still rather naive Autobot took her word for it and gave her assistance. Though other members of Team Athenia were suspicious of her, Hot Shot managed to convince them to trust his judgement. So Red Alert accepted treating her wounds.
Lies
With what knowledge she had of the current Autobot climate on Cybertron, Stratus manufactured the identity of "Nimbus", a recruit for Project Aerial Bot that got cold pedes and left the program after her frame upgrade. She continued traveling with Athenia, charmed and growing close to Hot Shot. She'd also gain a better grasp on her own agency and self confidence. At least until the team that left her and assumed her offline finally caught up with them.
Trying to avoid conflict, while also not revealing her own lies, she desperately tried to convince Hotshot to back off from the fight and run away. When she refused to come clean on her own, her former leader activated an internal shock module, electricuting her violently and disabling her 'Autobot' paint. As she screamed out and the truth was revealed, Hot Shot, who stuck his neck out for her, was enraged at the betrayal (but also horrified at the sight). However, as she was being dragged back by the Cons, Nimbus fought back, attacking her former boss with the blades of her propeller.
Truth
Currently, Stratus remains in custody of the Elite Guard, though Hotshot occassionally comes to see her. Though she apologizes for how she hurt him and the other members of Athenia, and accepts her punishment, he's managed to look past it and is seeking a way to rehabilitate her into an actual Autobot.
I wish I knew better...
If there's anyone Stratus regrets lying to most about everything, it was Hot Shot. From the beginning everything she said to him was founded on a lie for the sake of survival. Then things changed the more she stood by his side, each lie becoming harder and harder to tell until her true feelings could only mix with the persona of Nimbus. Even though he's still mad about what she did to everyone, he puts it aside more often than not as his own feelings are complicated towards her.
After everything, Stratus is pretty sure that Rodimus Prime was aware her false backstory from the beginning. Which makes the fact he was still willing to trust Hot Shot and welcome her into their team all the more baffling to her. Perhaps like the same spark of leadership he sees in Hot Shot, he saw in her the potential to be a great Autobot.
Though they've gotten better about jumping to hasty conclusions about other bots, sometimes their judgements come from a place of knowledge. Project Safeguard having been the forerunner to Project Aerial Bot, Fire and Storm keep well involved with the details of it- so when Hot Shot tried to introduce Nimbus as part of it, they right away called out the fact she was never a member. Hot Shot however didn't bother listening to the experts.
Even behind a field, I feel better than with the Cons...
