Carmine isn’t sure of their place in the world. They’re good at dissecting things and testing them when they’re told so maybe that? Still, it doesn’t quiet the restlessness in their soul that they fiercely try to ignore, instead focusing on quenching their thirst for knowledge, no matter how immoral they go.

About

Appearance

Carmine is a tall (6’4”) and lanky tannish person. They have long scarlet hair which they often wear tied back. They have heterochromia, their right eye being red and their left eye being yellow. Their teeth are razor sharp, giving them their signature “shark grin”, as they are nearly constantly grinning or smiling. Their clothing hides a wealth of scars, some from work and others they won’t say but they have some on their face and hands. Their ears are pointed and have a single piercing in each in which they wear ruby studs. Their left ear has five cuts in it, the top most having sliced off the top of their ear.

At work, they always wear a long red leather coat and a pair of heavy goggles with red lenses. Their work clothing is often simple t-shirts and slacks. Off work, they wear tinted glasses and a red coat or jacket of some sort. They opt for simple but colorful clothing, often of their favorite color, red.

Their werewolf form is a staggeringly tall (7’9) and lanky wolfish form with long and skinny proportions. Their fur is medium length and the same shade of scarlet as their hair. They have a multitude of pupiless yellow eyes on their face and a few others scattered across their body. They are heavily scarred and their right ear is torn.

Personality

Those that meet Carmine find them eccentric at best and absolutely unhinged at worst. They don’t seem to take many things serious, even grinning most of the time. They like to tease and poke fun at other people and don’t seem to realize—or care—when others get irritated at them. Despite all this, they like people and are very sociable. When they do need to be serious, they become oddly quiet and focused. If in danger, this illusion shatters and their eccentricity turns to eleven. Others find it disturbing how they laugh hysterically in the face of danger. While a good deal of this is due to a morbid thrill they find, they are loathe to admit its simply how they show fear. Curiosity drives them and often they treat their patients immorally, willing to go to any length to find out something new. While sometimes they cannot help but feel a twinge of guilt, it’s gotten easier and easier to smother that part of themselves.

They don’t talk much about themselves and no one really knows what they think of themselves. Truthfully, Carmine has been grappling with their identity for a very long time. The base is their conflicting heritages, of the distant Fae and the family-oriented werewolf. As a werewolf, they crave companionship but, lacking it, find themselves lonely. Without the presence of a pack, they are lacking in fulfillment of their deep social instincts.

History

No one is entirely sure where Carmine came from or even why they’re there. They won’t say and every document involving them is either classified or heavily redacted.

The truth is Carmine was stolen from their parents, something they do not remember. After a transformation that shouldn’t have happened, they ran wild, unstable and uncontrollable. They were intercepted by a government agency and separated from their parents, originally planned to be killed. However, their unique traits proved interesting enough for them to be spared. From that point, their entire life was secretly dictated so they’d be the most useful to them. They bounced from foster home to foster home, went to school on their dime and was hired right out of school to work in their secret labs at the ACB Testing Site at Area 51.

There, Carmine became a skilled scientist, albeit with the looming threat that one misstep could make them a very unique patient. This has lead Carmine to resent it there and wish they could escape. While they don’t necessarily mind their work, they despise the leash that they find themselves burdened with.

Skills

Carmine is very intelligent, both in general and in all things biology. They are both a skilled scientist and doctor, knowing their way not only around the human body but that of many other creatures.

Their werewolf heritage grants them above-average strength and endurance. As a werewolf, they transform into a hulking wolf creature every full moon. If they had been taught, they could utilize this form more effectively, able to call upon it whenever they’d like or even manipulate it to a degree. The sole exception is that under great stress or threat, they can transform.

Their Fae heritage grants them an above-average magical well, which is the source of their twisted and atypical werewolf form. This also grants them the ability to see past the Glamour and see magical things as they are.

Trivia

  • The goggles aren't just aesthetic, they had bad eyesight. Off work, they wear prescription glasses.
  • Due to their werewolf side, they are constantly snacking because they have a high metabolism. Their coat seems to have massive pockets since they always have snacks.
  • They cannot wear iron ( because their Fae side ) or silver ( because their werewolf side ). Iron simply irritates their skin while silver burns it. In addition to that, wolfsbane harms them with just a touch. Ingesting it would poison them.
  • They're a bit of a workaholic; they don't tend to take off work except for the full moon.
  • In and out of werewolf form, their eyes have tapetum lucidum.
  • Provided they prepare in advance with needed energy to burn during their transformation, as a werewolf they are basically a very excitable, very large dog. They retain a lot of awareness and control but are largely driven by animal impulses.
