PERSONALITY

Astrophel is definitely a kind child; he has his heart in the right place even if he doesn’t act like it at times. He does at least try to act responsible… granted, it’s harder than it seems, but he tries. He’s also quite determined in serving his duties and he is capable of adapting to different situations; he also acts quite fast, which is something that’s needed in his field, no, it’s downright the main factor that determines the outcomes in his field. That aside, he is also known to be quite optimistic and honestly does look forward to what the future holds, at least most of the time; he’s capable of knowing that the future isn’t going to be all sunny though, but at least it’s nice to imagine a brighter future. He is also quite honest and confident in himself; he learns quite quickly and he is willing to admit where and what he did wrong.

However, he can be mischievous and sarcastic; he does try his best to keep that side of him hidden from authority figures, but when he’s in private, it tends to worm its way out. In spite of his attempts to be responsible, he sometimes can be quite lazy; he hates that and wants to change it, but it’s an issue that he keeps on running into nonetheless. He is also quite absent-minded and forgetful, and he does get overwhelmed with his responsibilities and tasks quite easily; strangely, he has a tendency to take on too much responsibility, thinking that he is capable of finishing them all. He’s also suspicious of others and is not exactly creative; in fact, sometimes he just… depends on authority on what to do. It’s less of a confidence issue and more of a disciplinal issue; he fears getting punished by authority.

STORY

Long story short, he’s training to be a defender agains the stars. However, I must give some context about that that is, right?

Stars are a real species in Celestialieu and while the civilians are quite peaceful, their leaders are the direct opposite; the leaders are extremely aggressive and territorial. Stars live in heaven… unfortunately, that’s also the place where gods and the other celestial species live, so as a result, stars often attack Heaven. There has to be some sort of defense system against stars; that’s where Astrophel comes in. He’s training to be a “starkeeper” which is just a term for the defender class that deals with stars; for most of his life, he was taught how to protect Heaven and such alongside his normal studies.

Oh gods, oh no… he tried his best to take it in, he really did, but it was too much stress and work for him in the end. He did hide that though and pretended it was fine, but it wasn’t; he never learned anything that helped him cope with his workload so he’s still quite easy to overwhelm. In fact, he had to sacrifice most of, if not all of, his childhood in order to serve his duties; this did take a toll on him but he’s trying his best to move forward from that. Sometimes, when he’s alone by himself, it seems like he’s trying to live out the childhood that he missed. He only performs his duties out of a sense of obligation, he definitely didn’t want to serve in a job which could result in death at an age so young. However, some just didn’t see how much this child had to deal with… or they just didn’t care. Some of heaven’s residents saw him as nothing but a joke due to how young he was physically and how inexperienced he was at the time.

He tried to prove them and their mockeries wrong, and he ended up taking on much more responsibilities and duties than needed; he did that so much that it ended up becoming an actual habit of his. A terrible habit, when you combine it with how he gets overwhelmed easily and a mind that’s not yet fully mature. But that aside, the mental toll at first ended up setting him back severely at first, but he soon learned that recovering quickly and getting up after you’ve been figuratively shoved down by life itself were everything in his field. Not being able to trust people was deliberately coded into him was important, to reduce his possible empathy to the other side and to prevent him getting tricked into his demise.

POWERS (WIP)

Star magic

Yes, talk about fighting fire with fire... jokes aside, he can draw magic from the heavens and use that as a power source or as a weapon. He's not the best at this due to how he's inexperienced with it, but he's training with it, so he'll get stronger with time.

Ability to withstand celestial phenomena

He can simply, resist any attack that uses celestial phenomena (i.e. attacks by stars); it's weak considering his age and how inexperienced he is with this, but he's certain that it'll grow with time. However, this is capable of being magially removed, but he doesn't know that...
