She was a successful experiment with creating artificial intelligence, but her project was shut down due to a lack of funding, forcing her creators to allow third-party companies to use her as a pop idol. It took off on a decent wave of popularity, which earned its creators some money and the ability to update her systems.
The Ajris software is distributed by some companies who are allowed to sell merch with it, so it's generally quite realistic to get your hands on a 'portable' version for communication. The software provides several styles of communication, including a good friend, a nice girl and a caring girl who will remind you of certain things, like a mum (like "did you remember to eat?" or "don't forget your hat, it's cold outside today").

Because she has no sense of time, she continues to give concerts in various cities where she is transported by her new owners without any fatigue. Also, as an AI, Ajris was able to learn dreams and get into Shado for a while, where, however, she continued to do the same and gained new fans.
