PERSONALITY

Very, very chill most of the time. Usually kind and soothing to be around. Quite a good listener as well. Can keep her cool in most situations, though she has a hard time dealing with temperamental people even under the effects of her incenses; especially in confrontation, as her calm attitude might put them off and be a test to their patience. Can be a bit insensitive at times when she feels like it, saying mean things with a smile without bating an eye (especially to people she doesn't like). Easily amused at the reactions of others.

Music playlist

A water-element Harvin who fights using a smoking pipe. She's a wandering aromacologist in search of new fragrances who likes to contemplate pretty things. Since all her eye talent apparently went to her nose, despite her liking of antiques, she easily falls in scams. Her pipe, however, is the real thing... probably. Her incenses have mostly soothing properties, which gives her a calm aura.

Current story and backstory (Granblue Fantasy D&D campaign)

Maiorah comes from Reiche Island, from a family of Harvin florists living on the third level of the island. She was quite different from the calm and caring person she is now; she used to be way more insensitive, not paying much attention to what she said and how it could affect others.

In her early years, she spent a lot of time helping around at the shop and pestering her neighbors, a small family of two draphs, mother and son. The mother, Faye, worked as an incense maker, which instantly caught Maio's attention. In such a contaminated island like Reiche, places like her parents' flower shop and her neighbors' house, always full with pleasant fragrances, were the little harvin's favorite refuges. In hopes of showing Faye's work to the world, Maio started learning from her, from incense to perfumes and their creation process. As time passed, she started helping her around fairs in Reiche and other islands, eventually selling her own work as well.

She was also close to Faye's son, Jacinth, who spent most of the time being dragged around by Maio. From having to hear ghost stories to being victim of dumb pranks, the poor, shy draph was tormented by the slight dread of her small neighbor's constant visits. It wasn't until a prank got too far, leaving Cinth lost in the city late at night after an errand, that Maio didn't realize that her attitude was actually hurting him. From then on, she started paying more attention to her actions, though she was never brave enough to apologize for all the harm she had already done. During these years, she also met Shinra, a young but eccentric erune antiquarian specialized in non-magic items, also from Reiche. He became sort of an older brother figure to the two friends. Faye had already known him from before due to merchant connections, so the group often kept meeting during fairs even in other islands.

When Maio was 17, Faye married a nobleman from a higher level of the island. The two Draphs moved away, leaving Maio's family with a bunch of furniture and old objects they didn't need anymore. Among these objects was an ornate smoking pipe, which Maio later kept as a keepsake of her neighbors. Slightly sad after their move, she stopped going to fairs for a while to help around at the flower shop. Some time later, she returned to work on her own incenses to continue with Faye's work. She kept in touch with Shinra, who she often met once again during fairs.

At 25 years old, used to seeing many islands from Nalhegrande, Maio decided to try her luck in Phantagrande, where she could surely find many more new fragrances and spread her teacher's work further. Thanks to Shinra's merchant contacts, she was able to take a ship across the Grim Basin; at the same time knowing that she probably wouldn't be able to come back home anytime soon. With her trusty smoking pipe in hand, and finally free from Reiche's smog-filled streets, Maio travelled from island to island for some years together with various merchant caravans. She followed rumors of strange flowers, stopping on many different islands in search of new, interesting material, and people to share her work with. However, her thirst for adventure eventually toned down, and started being replaced by homesickness and nostalgia. The loneliness of not having a place near to return to, missing her parents, and having to travel around alone, knowing that eventually she would have to leave every caravan behind, made her take the decision of looking for a way back home.

Driven by homesickness, Maio ended up in a Nalhegrande-themed tavern during her stay at the Valtz Duchy. There, she met a peculiar group of sorta-skyfarers led by an Idelva official who had ended up in Phantagrande thanks to an astral ship somehow capable of teleportation. They quickly bonded over Nalhegrande, also a shared home skydom among some of them. They told Maio about the current state of Reiche: the current war with the new kingdom of Idelva, Reiche Island being closed off, and the Divine Retribution in Starke. After this, she knew: she definitely had to come back home. Seeing how they had a fast way of travelling around skydoms, Maio accepted their offer to join their group; though this is only the beginning of her new adventures with them.

...A lot of stuff has happened since then.
