Backstory (~70 year prior to WC1 - Burning Crusade)

In the year of 519 on the King's Calendar, about 70 years before the events of the First War, the Duskflame family welcomed into the world a young female heiress named Elealda. This heiress grew up in comfortable wealth and received the best education her family could afford along with specialized swordsmanship training beginning when she begged her parents to let her know how to defend herself. However unlike her younger brother, Ochiael born eleven years after her, she was not allowed to leave the Duskflame Manor without a family escort, and most of the time when she was allowed out it was for the prim and proper parties of the elite. She adored the stories of outside of Quel'thalas her brother brought back and began to dream of a life away from her family where she could be free.

It was 75 years later from her birth that Elealda got a taste of freedom from her overbearing family. With news of the Orcish Horde trampling through the outskirts of Lordaeron and headed towards Quel'Thalas, both her and her brother were sent to the family's Silvermoon residency ahead of the rest of their family. During this time her brother thought to take her out touring the city without restraints normally placed on her. In that moment Elealda experienced what life was like without her overbearing family, to be able to go to the market and explore the sales without someone looking over her shoulder at every moment, to be able to sample food without the need for a food taster, to be able to talk with other people without worry of being overheard, that was what she had been missing for so long.

After her time in Silvermoon with her brother it was tough to go back to the daily life in Duskflame Manor. Her studies began to falter as she spent more time on the training ground urging her trainers and her brother to teach her new fighting techniques, much to the distaste of her parents. Nobody was none the wiser that this was the beginning of her rebellion towards her family, she had made a promise to herself in the early years of this to escape and explore Azeroth on her own. Unfortunately exploring Azeroth was not where fate decided to guide her fifteen years later, but instead to another planet after the Scourge decimated her people's homeland. In the midst of the chaos Arthas' army caused, Elealda slipped out from her family's Manor and fled to Silvermoon one night where she stayed hidden living among what was left of the High Elves. No less than two years later did her chance at an adventure arise with a call to action for able bodied soldiers to venture beyond the Dark Portal in hopes to find a salvation to their race's mana addiction now that the Sunwell had been destroyed. Gathering her meager supplies she joined up on this quest, intent on leaving her relation to her family behind.

Over the next three years Elealda travels throughout Outland with the Sunfury forces, learning from and befriending other Elves, in particular she made a rather close friend of Vaelios Runesworn a Sunfury recruit that had survived the pillaging of Silvermoon. The forces found the land of the Outlands harsh compared to home, and quickly it showed how fierce it could be when night took over the land and their camp. Elealda and Val made a pact in the early nights to watch each other's backs as they traveled. About a year into their journey as they were passing through Blade's Edge Mountains disaster struck for Elealda as she and her friend became separated during a Legion attack on the makeshift camp. When the attack was repelled and the survivors went to count the dead, Elealda searched desperately for her friend among the living, but to her dismay the survivors only pointed to a small pile of still bodies that were retrieved. It was the first time she had to bury a body of a friend.

The following time after that fateful Legion attack, Elealda receded into a deep depression. Focusing solely on work around Temptest Keep and slaying any would be demon invaders without remorse. In this time she kept interactions with other elves at the Keep to the minimum. Often in an urge to escape the Keep that began to feel so much like the home she had left Elealda would leave for days on end to hunt down demons or other enemies on her own. Eventually these outings made their way up the chain of command to Kael'thas himself. After news of a successful Blood Elf demon hunter, Varedis, Kael'thas was gathering another small selection of his forces to send to Illidan to train as demon hunters, and Elealda with her intent on hunting down demons since they settled at the Keep made a prime choice for the next batch of Blood Elves to be trained. Eager to avoid her emotions and get stronger for better revenge Elealda took up the opportunity and traveled to Shadowmoon Valley on a Dragonhawk with the rest of the chosen elves.

Upon arriving to the Black Temple, the small group was greeted by their future trainers, Varedis himself included. Due to Elealda's formal training with swords throughout her time back on Azeroth and her skills from fighting demons on her own in the Netherstorm, she was placed a couple ranks ahead of the rest of her group. This piqued Varedis' interest and him observing her group became a common sight. Eventually after observing her for weeks he personally challenged her for a training spar. The spar itself was over in an instant, with Elealda on the ground, as most who decided to watch predicted. Despite this Varedis saw potential in this elf and decided to personally train her outside of the normal training. With additional training from an elite demon hunter, Elealda caught the attention of none other than Illidan himself. After appraising her skills he deemed her ready for her transformation into a fully fledged demon hunter, she just had to get the demon she wanted by herself.

Elealda had free reign to choose her demon that would turn her into a fully fledged demon hunter. She knew demons such as doomguards and nathrezim would be too strong for her, and imps and felhounds felt too weak. Noting his disciple was having a troubling time finding the demon she was to be bound with, Varedis made a suggestion of possible species that would suit her and her skill level. Inquisitors, aranasi, and shivarra were among the top suggestions Varedis had given her. Taking to the tomes, she did her research and decided summoning an aranasi was the way to go. So she began her first hunt, summoning a humanoid aranasi by the name of Brood Mother Syrine. The Brood Mother proved a strong opponent, but Elealda came out on top, just with a few more scars than she used to have.

Having slain the demon that Elealda would bind herself to, she gathered it's blood and heart and brought it to a small room where the binding ritual would take place. By herself she drew the sigils she needed and prepared her ritual, with higher ranking Illidari watching over the proceedings. If she completed this part she'd never be able to go back to who she was. She would just be revenge, but with that revenge came freedom, from restraints, from her family, and from the intense pain she's suffered since she left her friend to die. Standing in the sigil she recited the first passage of binding and then drank the blood of the aranasi. The blood itself burned and bubbled, the fel within it fighting back against her. Even with the pain she continued on. As she recited the second passage physical changes began to manifest, her hair once raven black began to turn white at the roots, small horns freckled her face, her skin began to feel scaly, and the base of horns appeared on her head. Fighting through the physical pain she brought the heart to her mouth and consumed it. At this point pain overwhelmed her, fel flowed out of her eyes destroying them, and burned deep purple tattoos into her skin. Her horns grew in, spiraling from her head as her skin became taut, her hair now a pure white. Through the pain she grit her teeth and shouted the final passage, sealing the power within her. Breathless, her senior Illidari applauded another successful demon hunter binding and welcomed their newest soldier to their ranks. However, when they congratulated Elealda, she simply replied that Elealda died in that rite, all that's left is her thirst for revenge. Varedis, her mentor during most of her time as a trainee, decided to dub her with a new name fitting of a demon hunter, Aamona.

Eventually with the Horde and the Alliance breaching the gates of the Black Temple an elite force of Illidan's Illidari were sent to Mardum to retrieve what is known as the Sargerite Keystone, a fel corrupted titan device that would allow travel to any world desired. Being one of the demon hunters tasked with this quest, Aamona left the Temple behind for the alien Legion controlled planet. The events of Mardum were a blur, demons, fel, and the clash of blades that killed her fellow Illidari, but in the end they were successful and returned just in time to witness the defeat of their leader at the hands of the Wardens and their allies. Without thinking they all dashed, intent on expelling these new enemies of their mission. Without realizing it they all dashed into a trap, the fel that ran in their veins seeped out of their bodies at the command of the Wardens and encrusted them in a jail of their own making. Now immobile the Illidari were taken with the body of their leader to be jailed forever more - their fel encasement refusing to let them perish.

The Legion's Return (Legion Expac)

The fel jail the Warden's placed the Illidari in had little to offer in the way of entertainment. For the next six years with nothing to do, Aamona focused on maintaining her slipping sanity either by watching the other beings in the Vault using her advanced vision, sleeping almost hibernating, or conversing with the demon inside her, Syrine. She cursed that her upbringing in the Duskflame household actually came in handy for once.

It was a long and lonely six years, but one day the faint clash of blades echoed off the walls and reverberating Aamona's fel crystal. Harnessing her spectral sight she began to reveal what was happening, a horde of demons poured into the vaults pushing the Wardens back further and further. But there was also another group rising from the lowest levels of the vault, her people, the Illidari. She felt the fel in her eyesockets flare to life and soon a shadow passed across her crystal. She savored the cracks and creaks of the breaking walls that held her, just as she savored the first kill of a demon in so long. It was almost as overwhelming as being drunk, if not for the situation the Illidari and the Wardens found themselves in. Wiping the demon blood off her face, and regaining her sense of self, she led her now free unit through the maze of the vault and to the open air of Azeroth's night sky.

As nice as the winds of home felt in her hair, Aamona and the rest of the Illidari knew there was no time to dwadle. The Legion was still picking off them as they fled the vault, but luckily the Kirin'tor had come to aid the new arrivals and teleported them to their respective race's capitals to swear their aid to the factions against the Legion. It was tough, not the arid landscape of Durotar that much was similar to Shadowmoon Valley at least, but the seething distrustful eyes of the citizens of the Horde. They didn't know her sacrifices or her commitment to eliminating the demonic pests of the universe, no they just saw her as equal to the Legion itself just as they had back in Outland. She tried her best not to scowl as they bartered their allegiance to the Horde, once they were done here she would limit herself on her visits to her new "home" capital.
