Name Unknown
Called Wisp
Age Unknown
Gender None
Race Canine
Role Spirit Guardian
Alignment True Neutral
Theme Ceilidh

Little is known about Wisp. They act as a guardian to those passing on to the afterlife, and assist spirits passing on by eliminating the things tying them to the mortal plane. They have the ability to speak, but no one has heard their voice before. Sightings are rare, as Wisp largely tends to forest spirits, however some in civilization have glimpsed them at one or another and mistaken them for a herding or farm dog. Wisp can generally be sighted in the northern hemisphere, near abandoned or deserted areas such as forests, mountains, or plains.

About

Wisp is a semi-immortal being. There is no real reason why they exist in a canine form, and their appreance can change between canine types as they need in order to blend in. They have slightly enhanced abilities, such as speed and strength, which allow them to better assist spirits. Occasionally in their most desperate moments they have a slight ability to pass through solid objects, though this is more of a disadvantage since it only occurs when their energy is very low and they have trouble moving. The "wisp" that surrounds them is the measure of their energy: the more of it there is the stronger they are. Yellow indicates peace and surety, while the eerie green is indicative of decreasing energy and is usually seen in smaller bits and pieces around them.

Where do I begin...

The oldest lore about spirit guardians are conflicting. Some say that they're trapped in service until they pay retribution for their sins commited while alive. Others claim they are called into existence by the last breath of a traumatized spirit. Wisp has no memories of their previous life, and little care to remember the number spirits they have helped pass on. As such they have no record of how long they've been a guardian. The only thing consistently pressing them into service is the energy gained from spirits passing on. Without the need for the energy, Wisp would have no reason or desire to help trapped spirits.

and where do I End?

Wisp is incredibly apathetic. Any attempt to elicit pity or sympathy gains you nothing but a blank stare. Some spirits are unsettled by Wisp and will flee from them rather than seek their help. The only strong desire that grips Wisp is that for energy. Whenever their trail of "wisp" energy grows low they frantically search for spirits to assist, and will even aggressively chase smaller spirits in an attempt to scare them into the next realm. The only fear Wisp has is of moving on. Whatever exists on the other side for them, they are terrified. An overwhelming sense of foreboding fills them when their energy grows too low, and their form begins to take on a ghost-like appearance, as if it's only a matter of time before they succumb to becoming a ghost. Whatever strange form they have on earth, it isn't fully alive or fully dead. Living holds no appeal to them, but death is terrifying to face. However many years they have existed like this, it's only a matter of time before they will be forced to relenquish control of their existence to the unknown.

Arrow [ nature spirit ]

Arrow was shot and killed by hunters before he was fully grown. Through his strong desire to remain alive in the mortal plane he maintains semi-permanence and can be seen by others. Every time he is shot by hunters his cycle of trauma repeats. Wisp is currently helping Arrow to accept his death.
