About

Rei, ever since she was little and was old enough to grasp the concept of heroes and villains, wanted to attend UA to train and be a hero. Despite coming from a background with two non-heroes as parents for their own reasons, she was very hero-oriented. Her dad was the one who trained her for most of her upbringing before the entrance exam and was harsh on her, while her mom was simply a supporter and was there only for encouragement and icing wounds when she got hurt. During the exam, her quirk had messed up and stopped working at a crucial moment, whether it had been from the cause of another person's quirk or fear blocking her mind, she never found out (not that she was particularly wanting to either). If it weren't for another student who saved her ass at the last minute and got all the points of the obstacle to themselves, Rei would've died. For the rest of the exam (which was nearing its end anyways), Rei was stuck in shock since her quirk turning off in the middle of nowhere had never happened before. Due to the incident, she was placed in the support course, which led to some heavy disapproval and a big argument with her dad, including an accidental affliction with his quirk on her. After that, his training with her only worsened as she tried to meet his expectations for her as she tried to prepare for the tournament, which was her only shot at being in the hero course and making her dad proud. She eventually was able to win a few rounds and though she wasn't close to top 3, she was still moved to the hero course the following year. After that, though she had only a few friends to begin with in her first year due to always studying and training in her spare time instead of doing fun activities, she was more sociable in her second year, wanting to fit in and have other people in the hero course to like her. During that time, she met her now-girlfriend Aiden, among other friends. She's still afraid about her quirk not working randomly and is used to forcing herself behind small limits, but she's learning to grow out of it.

Quirk: spectral glow

She is able to turn any part of her body into a glowing blue spectral form, choosing to either be solid or be able to be passed through; the hue is unable to be changed (despite previous thoughts). She can also make projections that follow the same rules, which she uses to her advantage to make a projection and ghost it through someone's body before making it solid and expanding it from the inside out (however, she's unable to make anything too big (about roughly anything bigger than 10 times her size) in fear of overexerting herself and her best marvel was a car that would have functioned properly had it been supplied any electricity or gas, but then again she did pass out shortly after for almost an entire day). Because her dad's quirk is based off of mind vulnerability, she is also susceptible to easy possession, provided you have a possession/mind control/etc quirk. When she turns her head to be spectral, you can reach into where her brain is and she's under your control (keep in mind that this is only an addition to how a person would normally activate it by other means (such as direct eye contact, taking their DNA, etc), but only for her).

personality

Rei likes to think she's kind-- and she is-- but she's also an incredible doormat. She feels as if the only way to fit in with the other heroes in class are to suck up to them and to do their every bidding, which has caught her in a bit of a bind when she kept running late to class by always getting lunch for a group of third years. (Eventually, as it turned out, they were joking and teaching her a lesson that she didn't need to do this to be a good hero if she was a good person and she became friends with them, even if they didn't talk often.) She's still known to always have a helping hand and a shoulder for those in need, but at least she's learned how to set her boundaries. She likes to listen and talk less so, but she is also one to spontaneously invite friends to hang out. She adores them and treasures every memory she's made.

Relationships

Aiden Sano [ girlfriend ]

Meeting through the hero tournament when they were paired up for a match, one that Rei proceeded to beat her. Instead of being a sore loser, Aiden found herself lovestruck by her and after getting to know each other in the hero course the following year, they got closer and eventually became girlfriends.

Joanna Davis Omori  [ mother ]

They have a pretty normal relationship where here mother supports any decision she makes in good light and knows when to scold her if needed, but otherwise her mother typically is quite fine cheering her on from the sidelines.

Hotaru Omori  [ father ]

Rei and her father have a somewhat strained relationship. She knows that he means well, but he doesn't know when to stop pushing her to her best. Rei is undoubtedly afraid of him, but she does well to hide it from him and others.
