Yoshi has a short-tempered, impulsive and cocky attitude. It's not the greatest combination as it does lead to the male getting into trouble quite often. That changed the moment he learned that his wife was pregnant, and he realized it was time for him to grow up. With that, the male started working on keeping his emotions in check. If he wanted to be a better husband, he had to stop being too emotional. While he does try to hide it, the male can be a worrywart when it comes to those he cares about. He rarely had people in his life that truly cares for him and fears the idea of losing them. Yoshi has severe abandonment issues that are being managed with help from Katsuko and his best friend (Adrian).
When Yoshi was three years old, the male was placed in an orphanage. To this day, he is unsure of why his biological parents left him there. Yoshi believes knowing would have probably eased the pain he felt during the years spent in the orphanage. The association of those in the orphanage being known as 'throwaway children' is something that haunts him. While the male was adopted by a loving family, it didn't remove the impression of his biological parents leaving him there because he was a problem child. This idea of being a problem child lead to the male in becoming a delinquent as a means of embracing that. Despite this, the male managed to make friends with someone who he would later consider a brother to him: Adrian Kuzuryu. Through their friendship, the two stood by the other's side through tough times. That friendship was tested when Katsuko Itsumi attended their high school as both were attracted to the female. Through a year filled with Personas, adventure and shadows, Yoshi would be the one that captured Katsuko heart and eventually marry the female. To this day, Yoshi believes Katsuko was the angel that he needed to save him from his own mind.
- Pastries. He developed quite a craving for them due to his wife constantly making them as a result of her job.
- The Pack. He does consider them his second family and will do whatever he can to protect them. He is especially close to Adrian and Kat.
- Exercising. Exercising is one of the ways that Yoshi allows most of his anger to filter out. He's quite the fan of boxing.
- Being a dad. He's really excited about being a father! While he is nervous about taking care of them, he's determined to give them a happy life.
- Any mention of him being an orphan. He gets really agitated if you bring that up.
- Ghost. He'll have you know that he totally doesn't have a fear of ghosts. He just thinks they're too weird for his taste.
- Horror movies. He'll have you know that he doesn't totally get scared at watching any form of horror movie even if the movie is bad.
- Loose change. Thanks to being a cashier, Yoshi developed quite a strong hatred for people who pay with loose change for their things. It's quite painful for him.
- Yoshi's Persona take the form of a Leopard Gecko when he's in the real world.
- As a slight note, the male does take the position of being the confidant of the Star arcana for Akira Kurusu.
- Yoshi does have several scars over his body from fights he been involved in (outside of Distortionis). His severe one is the one over his eye. He is thankful he is actually able to see out of it.
- What inspired to create Yoshi was me doing some reading into how orphans are treated in Japan and partially some things relating to characters such as Ryuji from Persona 5 and Kanji from Persona 4.I also unintentionally channeled Shinjiro Aragaki when it came to his actual design.
