What is this, Ashes To Ashes?

Black British gentleman from Cardiff, Wales. A fairly taciturn if charming man with many strange secrets, and none of them pleasant.

He is no longer human but rather a shapeshifting beast. He needs to consume flesh to keep up with the uncontrollable growth of mass, and it has to be fueled somehow. He prefers eating men because the thought of having a woman's flesh in him sickens him profoundly, but when he's famished enough, he'll eat anything made of flesh. His exact biological makeup is and remains a mystery.

It would appear that he hasn't gained any new memories since 1985. Every now and again his so-called cell memory resets and he'll appear to lose all his recent memories and revert back to the state he was in when he apparently lost his humanity, 1985. He'll react with shock when technology's suddenly changed like he jumped through time, and people treat him like he's a lunatic. But he retains some memories, even if they're only vaguely accessible in his dreams. And a lot, he does sleep. A shapeshifting otherworldly beast that appears to only keep traits bare minimum traits that keep him alive, it's not the best arrangement. Who knows if him turning out this way was a grave mistake.

Is that blood coming out of his eyes, mouth and nose?

Well, technically no. It's more of some kind of interstitial fluid that Eros's body produces in excess and that oozes out when he's excited, agitated or stressed. It's a very vivid, almost glowy shade of red, not deep red like blood, and is very viscous and slightly acidic.

Eros was created in August 18th 2013 and is based on a humanized form of an earlier character of Spoon's, named Mr. R. While Spoon's interest in Mr. R waned, they recycled Mr. R's human form's design while keeping some traits like red ooze leaking out of eyes and mouth. Mr. R's human form may have been influenced by Michael Jackson (Smooth Criminal), Ricardo Tubbs (from Miami Vice, portrayed by Philip Michael Thomas) and Cowboy Curtis (from Peewee's Playhouse, portrayed by Laurence Fishburne).
