BACKSTORY:

Armin was once a normal man, happily married and raising two young children. One night, while walking home from work, he was attacked by a vampire and forcibly Turned. The vampire was part of a crime organisation led by a cold, power-hungry man named Sargon. Armin was forced to work for Sargon under threat of having his family hurt if he disobeyed.

Armin stayed with the criminals out of fear, but after several decades, his family had died of old age. Bitter, lonely and grieving, he stuck around in hopes of getting revenge. His opportunity came when a small group rose up to fight against the organisation. He slipped away to help them, providing inside information and a willing sword. Eventually, the organisation was brought down, and Sargon was killed by Armin personally.

Nowadays, Armin lives in relative peace and has even reunited with his son Frederick, who he used to think was dead.

Armin generally comes off as a laid-back, nonchalant and friendly person. He's socially confident and rarely gets flustered. His sense of humour and casual attitude can lead people to assume he's incapable of taking anything seriously. Despite this, he does have a darker side and can certainly lose his temper if pushed the wrong way. Due to his habit of speaking impulsively and not thinking things through, he's often regarded as being a bit of an idiot.

Armin is very loyal to his loved ones, unhesitantly jumping into danger to protect them and defending them against criticism even when he knows they're wrong. Experiencing past loss has caused him to become clingy and paranoid. His trauma plays a significant role in his relationships - he often struggles to leave his loved ones alone even for short periods of time and worries incessantly about them. However, he is also very affectionate, loving, and considerate.

Armin has a reckless streak and has been described as an adrenaline junkie, seeking adventure and excitement without regard for his safety. He is noticeably vain and loves when people compliment his appearance. When not seeking adventure, he can be rather lazy and likes sleeping in late.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Janet

Armin's past wife. They were separated when Armin was Turned. A genuine and close couple, they met in their teens and fell in love after being friends for a while. Though they sometimes bickered, they loved each other deeply and unconditionally.

Sargon

Armin's former boss, a crime lord who wanted to take over the city. He blackmailed Armin into working for him; as expected, Armin loathed Sargon more than anyone in the world. Eventually, however, he managed to find some new allies and get his due revenge.

Anastasia

Armin's colleague in the crime organisation. He always delighted in bullying Ana because of her attraction to Sargon, and Ana often retaliated by attacking him with magic. Only the fact that they worked for the same boss kept them (relatively) civil.

Rex

Armin's best friend; they were both Turned against their will and bonded over their similarities. Armin is devoted to Rex and has vowed to do what he can to protect him from harm. They are unashamedly affectionate and believe they wouldn't have survived so long without each other.

Frederick

Armin's son, who is also a vampire. Though their relationship is slightly awkward due to being separated for so long, they care for each other as family, and Armin is very protective of Fred.

Esme

A baby dragon who Armin helped rescue and care for after she was orphaned. He's quite fond of her, eventually coming to see her as an adopted daughter of sorts.

DESIGN:

Like all vampires, Armin has red eyes and slightly elongated, sharp canines, which aren't visible with his mouth closed. He's tall and has a slim, lean-muscled build. He has wavy blond hair, usually reaching to the base of his neck. He dresses casually with a preference for t-shirts, jeans and leather jackets. He's missing the ring and middle fingers of his right hand.

ABILITIES:

Armin has the same general abilities as other vampires in my world. These include high strength and reflexes, powerful healing, and the ability to shapeshift into animals. His preferred animal form is a Black Kite.

His healing ability allows him to recover from most injuries, no matter how severe, with no lasting damage. However, he can't completely regrow missing body parts - and as such, being decapitated or losing vital organs would kill him. Wood is poisonous to him. Sunlight and garlic have no effect.

Armin uses a sword to fight. His style is rough, focusing on brute power over technical skill.

TRIVIA:

- Even though modern weaponry exists in his current timeline, he still favours swords over firearms. This is because he learned to use swords first.

- Squeamish about gore. Drinking blood is not an issue, but seeing huge amounts of gore tends to unsettle him.

- Very skilled at catching, preparing and cooking fish.

- Having his hair stroked or brushed is extremely soothing to him, enough that he can fall asleep from it.

- Enjoys horse riding, although most horses are scared of him due to his vampirism.

- Is arachnophobic.
