He believes himself to be psychopomp (from Jungian psychology) which represents a mediator between the unconscious and conscious realms.
He is a tri-type Glowchu, but keeps his third type hidden because of the stigma associated with them being mentally unstable ( which is, obviously, his case too ).
He has a different persona based on his third type that has come out for the first time when he was still a young pichu. They go by Ray's real name and while he has learned to control them and sees them as a part of himself, they see themself as a complete different being from Ray, even going as far as to call him him fake.
"Ray" is just a nickname he gave to himself, hoping it doesn't hold any meaning.
He once had a lover that was terminally ill, but he ended up killing them out of spite and frustration, feeling like he was wasting his life taking care of them. He later convinced himself that they died because of their illness. He keeps the blue roses on his tiara as a tribute to them.
