Character

History

Designed in Japan and built in Germany, Wasp was produced from a line of varying robot designs for the purpose of an advertising model. However, he was constantly picked over, due to his insect-like appearance. Many individuals openly expressed their disgust in how he looked, consistently puncturing his self-esteem to the point that he was expecting to get rejected, and soon grew bitter to those who came to look him over. This made it harder for him to sell, however, and eventually he was pushed off to a lot out of the country that contained other excess robots and technology. There, he was picked up by an elderly man named Edward, who bought him as a bodyguard and saw his looks as a plus for keeping him safe. Despite the reasons behind his purchase, the man treated him well, urging him to stay clean and keep up his appearance. He even had a tendency to stroke Wasp's ego, encouraging him to show off in order to boast about his bodyguard, as well as keep less than favorable individuals away

Eventually, the man passed, and Wasp was left without anywhere to go. He began picking up various odd-jobs, from pizza delivery, to warehouse worker to late-night security guard. Few of these jobs had been quite as fulfilling as what he had with Edward, but he didn't give up trying to find it. On the way back from a delivery, the house he just left was almost immediately attacked by a group of square-headed robots, lead by a particularly short one. Out of undeniable curiosity, he went back to see what was going on, and watched as the group came back with many other robots, as well as various electronic loot. Their little leader by the name of Wasabi looked him over, said he "looked really fuckin cool" an asked him to come along. After getting to their home base, they talked a bit, and he quickly found himself as a bodyguard of theirs. In time, he gained enough trust to be the personal bodyguard of Wasabi's girlfriend Vespa.

Personality

Wasp is a cocky and assertive young robot who usually has a hard time sitting still. Often, he finds himself zipping from one task to another, due to being so easily bored. He is nearly in constant need of attention, and will do what he can to get it, from showing off, to pulling mean pranks, since, even bad attention is still attention. However, when given a task, he is usually adept at finishing it, unless he finds himself growing bored of it, often leaving behind a wholly half-assed result. At the same time, when given the right amount of attention, he tends to flourish and grow affectionate, almost to the point of being protective and a tad clingy. He is great as showing he cares, just as long as he feels the sentiment is returned, nearly willing to do anything for such individuals (albeit with a side of sass).

Design Notes

Shape-wise, Wasp is meant to resemble his namesake, having a brightly covered body that is thin but toned with an abdomen-looking tail. His waist is purposely very narrow to mirror the look of a wasp's anatomy. Limbs such as his forearms and calves have black spikes (three each) that are retractable and are therefore optional. They usually pop out in more aggressive or stimulated situatious. He possesses a pair of antennae which move according to emotions. The wings are transparent with a hexagonal pattern, and the colors a gradient from red to yellow. His feet end in two tiny toes that can be smooth or hooked. Alternatively, the option of plantigrade feet exist, ending in padded paws. (reference in progress)

Wasp is made of aluminum and some titanium, making him rather light on his feet. The softer black portions of his body are a strong carbon fiber mesh that is also rather flexible. The majority of it is around his torso, where more varied movement is needed without joints. His coloration is an iridescent orange, with the darker colors nearing red while the highlights can reach a bright yellow. His screen can display various different expressions, but he is also capable of projecting various symbols and shapes in hard light. Wings are also made of hard light and are projected out of four ports on his upper back. They are capable of taking different shapes.

Wasp is also meant to be somewhat feline in design, with pointed ears and paw pads on his hands. Not shown yet are the option of plantigrade legs with paw pads. His tail is meant to resemble both a thick tail and an abdomen and tends to move according to emotions with a reasonable range of motions.
