The Scorched

Two, seemingly identical Sentries that stand stone still on either side of the front gates to Garanzo's kingdom. They do not move, nor speak, until the need to open or close the gates arises.

Their job is to solely open and close the large double doors that lead into Garanzo's Kingdom. They can fight too, and very well to boot, but the need for this has not ever actually occurred in all their millennia stationed at the gates. No one dares anger Garanzo in any way, and it would be a death wish to wage any sort of battle in front of his kingdom.

Unmoving, apart from their gaze (that of which will follow the traveler with a dead eyed expression), with their armor and skin pitch black- presumably burnt to a crisp from the double suns that beat down on them all day.

These two guards will not disregard a travelers' need to enter the castle from the outside - for whatever reason they may have to do so (though they will not open the doors to let anyone out without Garanzo or Reighan's approval.) They may take a moment, however, or one or two demands from the traveler, to open the gates, but they will eventually do so, if the new comer is persistent enough. Entering the castle is a one way ticket, after all. The dull look in their eyes, upon opening the gate to a weary traveler, may sometimes express an unspoken question- something along the lines of 'Why are you here? Why don't you turn back? Are you a fool to enter this place of misery? Go home, kid... while you still can.'

It is speculated, by those within the castle, that these two guards could leave their post whenever they wish, but as these guards have been stationed outside the gates for as long as anyone but a mere few can remember, no one knows for certain, if they are chained to the gates by some magical force, or whether they are there of their own free will...

- extra info: Kingdom folk often refer to the sentinels as 'The Scorched' or 'The Scorched Ones' ie. "You won't be able to get past The Scorched. The gates haven't opened in years..."
