Hannah was your average high school student who grew up immersed in fantasy and sci-fi media. From Neil Gaiman to Tolkien to Ursula K. LeGuin to Star Wars and everything in between, Hannah loves the fantastical, strange and magical and wishes that she could go on the same sorts of great adventures she reads about - but it seems that great quest and adventure is doomed to just be a reoccurring dream, until she gets pulled into a strange world and declared its only hero...

Hannah is creative, ambitious, positive and driven. She hates to be told no and does well under pressure; nobody's better at a last minute plan or a change in strategy. Hannah's dream in life is to be a YA fantasy novel writer, but her parents wish she would take up science like her super-smart older brother, who got a full ride to MIT to study biological engineering. Hannah hates feeling like she has to measure up to her brother and often ignores the more reality-based advice of her parents in the pursuit of her dreams and wishes.

In the Dream World, she is given the power of Lucid Dreaming, through which she grants herself a set of regular powers: flight, size shifting, invisibility, and incredible sword-fighting skills. She is gifted the sword that so often appeared in her dreams, the Manticore, which has a poisoned point. Hannah doesn't know she's in the Dream World at first, and initially she is a bit more bubbly, silly and gullible than she is in real life. The mask she wears was created by Royce, and it prevents her detection as a mortal (who are not allowed to be in the Dream World).   

Post-TFI, Hannah retains these powers and abilities as an avatar in the Dream World. You can differentiate between the two forms of Hannah's by seeing which one is wearing the crystal apple core necklace; that would be the one in-story.
