Beru's normally just a teacher of martial arts, having come from a distinguished background-- er, hold on, rewind there-- his mother and her siblings were distinguished martial artists; Beru is just a small gear in the cog of the 'distinguished' aspect, having learned only the business bit from mom, and the actual sport from his aunties and uncles...
Mom was a bit of a jerk, you see, and Beru wanted nothing to do with her for a long time. The years being his own free man were not all that fun and money was never easy to come by. Not that Beru was ever a kind soul, but as he grew older and older he became super harsh and close-lipped, not wanting to deal with... Anyone or anything, really.

Regardless, even when he's teaching a simplified, not-so-technically masterful school of martial arts, he can barely make ends meet.

So long story short, Beru's now kind of indebted to this little weirdo who had TONS of cash to burn.
And, he... The punk burnt through it all. Hm.
Beru thought it was gonna be a never-ending deal so he packed his things and just kept alongside Leie since he had all the dosh for a few good months.
