PERSONALITY
Benjamin keeps the world at a distance, preferring solitude over pleasantries. He's initially rude with strangers, and dismissive of any unnecessary interactions. It goes without saying his first impressions are made to end conversations. While that doesn't leave him with much of a social life, he's content to cut his losses. He's not especially vulnerable to loneliness, having become accustomed to it over the years. It was more of a burden when he was younger and needed the support. At the time, he struggled to cope with things he couldn't change, and blamed others for their inability to help. It's taken some time for him to unlearn this behavior, but he has an understanding now about what happened back then. 

While his perspective now is far less cynical, he's by no means an optimist. He's chosen an imperfect life as a means of getting by, and is unimpressed by his future prospects. Rather than investing his time and energy into a career, he's settled into the mundane routine of part-time work and dodging bills. Cheap thrills make his existence more tolerable, and he has a variety of short-term hobbies he rotates to keep himself busy. Among these are fishing and different types of art.  

APPEARANCE
He's physically average, but leans towards a thinner body type. His tail is one of his most prominent traits, and it resembles a salmon. He rarely changes his hairstyle, but can wear a ponytail or bun in place of his usual braid.

HEALTH
He has every mental illness. At once.

OCCUPATION
He works as a closer for the local gas station, though he's known to shoplift frequently and his manager would fire him in a heartbeat if anybody else actually applied.

RESIDENCE
He either rents an apartment, or lives in his car, depending on the month. Sometimes he's lucky enough to find a friend to stay with, but considering his lifestyle, these arrangements are usually temporary.

BACKSTORY
After a series of court hearings, bribes, and unspoken threats, full parental rights were given to Benjamin's father. The latter divorced his wife over speculation that Benjamin wasn't his child, but he nonetheless fought for custody to leverage against her. He was a man who commanded respect, acting as a judge in the city's district courts. Contrary to his public image, however, those who worked on his estate described him as nothing more than an entitled abuser, prone to lashing out and manipulating people to cover it up.

His ex-wife took the brunt of his abuse during their marriage, although at the time it manifested primarily as misogynistic taunts and control over her every move. He hadn't yet shown his willingness for physical beatings, but that fact changed soon after she left their home. He redirected his anger towards their only child, where it escalated to violence and physical neglect.

His mother is long out of the picture now, and following the events of her divorce and the aftermath; she's given up on having a relationship with Ben. She's still afraid of what his father would do, even though neither of them are in contact with him now that Ben is an adult.
