Profile

Name: Cai (Full name TBC)
Gender: Male
Age: 27/28
Height/Weight: 6' 1"
Ethnicity: Chinese
Job: Warrior
Birthday:

Weapon: His scimitar

Likes: tradition, order, sparring/ fighting, keeping to himself
Dislikes:  changing loyalties, weakness, pettiness

Personality:

He's reticent and a man of few words. He's not very good at speaking or finding the right words, so he prefers to stay silent unless forced to speak. He is extremely loyal and resourceful, and will not sway from his stance once he decides to pledge allegiance to someone. However, he's quick to judge others, and hates weakness and cowardice. It's hard to gain his respect, but once you earn it it is difficult for him to let it go.

Appearance:

Cai has darker sandy hair, and hazel/light brown eyes. Though most people from Shi-Zen have black/dark brown hair and dark eyes, Cai's lineage came from the coastal villages, where there was more intermingling between people from Shi-Zen and those from other lands. Cai has a lean, muscular build, and always carries his scimitar with him at all times. He walks with an easy, confident stride, and carries himself with respect and authority. Despite this, his demeanour usually comes off as cordial.

Abilities:

He is a formidable foe with his scimitar and most staves, having been trained since very young. In Shi-Zen, it's seen as a great accomplishment to be hired by the national guard (which serves the council members directly). Hence, his parents trained him the moment he could start walking, and Cai has grown to love the thrill of the fight. His fighting style has fluid movements with precision strikes; he finds the more rigid styles of fighting inferior.

Back Story:

Cai grew up in a fairly simple and supportive home environment. His dad was a fisherman and his mother was a blacksmith. He has no siblings, but many cousins, since his parents had several siblings each. When he was in his early teens he tried out for the youth guard, a precursor to the national guard, and got in on his first try. He was trained to join the national guard when he turned eighteen and served it faithfully for almost a decade.

However, he was framed for the killing the spouse of one of the council members (there are twelve in Shi-Zen, each holding equal power and overseeing a particular area of the nation). With a bounty on his head after he escaped imprisonment, Cai stowed away on a boat to Laawan and escaped his home nation. He wandered for weeks until meeting Jid, where he saved the other man from some bandits.

Since then, he's been hired by Jid to be a bodyguard while Jid searches for a way to restore his magic, and their friendship grows every day. Due to the anti-magical properties of his scimitar, he is able to fight the many magic-borne creatures that plague the remote areas of Laawan on their travels.

Trivia:

✣ his scimitar is a family heirloom and possesses anti-magic properties (e.g. it can cut through physical manifestations of magic like fire or dark magic)
✣ he enjoyed school but could never excel no matter how hard he worked; he's better with numbers than words
✣ he loves horseriding
✣ although his dad was a fisherman, he never mastered the art of fishing; however, he picked up blacksmithing from his mother
✣ loves kids (similar to Jid, though for Jid he loves imparting knowledge to kids)
