Red

Backstory:

As her fellow octolings first began to try to reach the surface two years ago, Red worked in helping to escort them to the surface. So when a sentient pile of sludge named Tartar offered to help, she was overjoyed. 

Tartar explained that he had a better, safer, and more efficient way to help octarians reach the surface, and that Red would be the first to help him do so. Overjoyed at the idea of helping her friends, Red agreed. However, she was briefly knocked out and woke up, feeling a bit off. Tartar had sanitized her, a prototype form of brainwashing. Red didn't remember anything; but the serum wasn't enough to erase her free will. 

Tartar dubbed her 'Code Red', and she was sent to test any missions that tartar wanted to include in the journey to the 'promised land'. SHe was eventually forced to help sanitize other poor octolings. 

Shortly before tartar perfected the toxic ink, Red lost her sanity and rebelled. She ran off, screaming manically and attacking everyone around her. Although tartar searched for her, he found nothing, and assumed she had died due to her inability to survive on her own. The opposite was true; she managed to stay alive and fed off of whatever test subjects perished. After Copepa replaced her spot, tartar and the underground facility was under attack and then destroyed. Red wandered her way up to the surface, and was generously taken in by an inkling named Ridley, who cares for her and helps her to recover. Slowly but surely, the battle-scarred octarian is coming back to life. 

Factoids:

-Red is mute and uses sign language to communicate

-Ridley calls her Red as well, but eventually wants to help her pick out another name

-She loves Judd and Lil' Judd! 

-She would be overjoyed to meet the squid sisters someday
