Personality: Rainie is as gentle and comforting as the ocean waves. She's compassionate and empathetic of others, and her heart is overflowing with feelings. Like the other members of their team, she instills positivity in others. Incredibly intelligent and creative, she always makes sure to do her best, whether it's for work, for someone else, or personal to her. 

When by the ocean, she looks very serene; rather calm and at peace. She feels at home, and will often find treasures to keep. She's a strong swimmer and expert diver. 

STORY
She was born in Slateport City; the port where people and Pokemon cross paths with nature. People from many different regions gather and mingle in this bustling port city.

Rainie spent a lot of time wandering Slateport and its beach on her own, which became a special place for her. She loved to swim, study and explore the ocean, and began diving for ocean treasures. Quickly, she became aware of the issues with water and pollution, and started to help best as she can in any way possible, whether it be cleaning the beaches, rivers and ponds, or helping the water-type Pokemon back into the water after washing ashore. If any of the Pokemon she found were hurt, she'd take care of them until they were ready to return- or even become a partner of hers. Rainie became a marine conservationalist, and took a huge part in helping Lapras as they were on the brink of extinction. 

Even after the events of ORAS, Rainie remains loyal to Team Aqua, and indulges in her love of the ocean with more exploration as well as recreation alongside them. She continues to do her best to keep the oceans clean alongside the team and provide homes to water-type Pokemon who need to heal.
 
RELATIONSHIPS

Mom: She wasn't the most supportive person in Rainie's life growing up. It wasn't that she didn't love and adore her daughter, or that she disapproved, she just felt she knew what was best for her. Once Rainie is an adult, she finds herself able to express her feelings, and her mom starts to try harder to show support. They become much closer afterward, and her mom does her best to make up for it. 

Shelly: Shelly and Rainie bond over their love of Poke Dolls, though it seems that fact hasn't become so secret in their time staying at the Team Aqua Hideout.

Matt: She adores his positive attitude and the way he loves his team, and his bro, Archie, of course. She can't help but crack a smile when she hears him talk and she absolutely treasures his friendship. Alongside Shelly, Matt tries his best for his best bro, and has tried to play wingman on occasions for Archie, though it seems to pass over Rainie's head.

Love Interest

Aqua Leader Archie: Archie is genuinely entranced by Rainie. He falls for her easily after seeing how empathetic she was towards water-type Pokemon and how she has a big heart. He wanted to make her happy and feel at home. Slowly he realizes his heart seems to beat faster when he sees her smile, and seems to fluster at simple actions. Rainie is charmed by how disarmingly sweet, positive and encouraging Archie is. She adores having someone like him, whose emotions are literally on full display, and it's so endearing to her. She's not used to that type of genuine warmth, so it was almost embarrassingly easy for her to fall for him. 

When Groudon and Kyogre awaken, Rainie realized that Archie had continued on with their plans despite Shelly's warnings, and she became frantic. When she fails to get in contact, she braves the storm, deciding to follow her heart. Just before reaching Sootopolis, Rainie spots the Submarine Explorer 1, and Archie spots her and her Lapras underwater. Archie gets excited, surfacing the submarine so that he could rush out and see her. He reaches out for her and helps her up, and soon realizes she's crying. He tries to ask her what's wrong, but instead is met with her throwing herself at him, hugging him tight. Archie holds her close for a few moments before moving to cup her face, wiping away her tears and reassuring her he's okay. She flusters a little at the gesture, trying to explain how worried she was and rationalize it. He sorta chuckles and smiles about this, apologizing for worrying her so much- "I like you too, though." She gets rather embarrassed by this, but knowing he feels the same allows her to accept and admit it to him. And he only flusters her more by trying to ask her on a date then and there, which she hurriedly tells him they can discuss it later, when Shelly and the rest of Team Aqua aren’t waiting on them. 

Archie and Rainie are very affectionate to one another, though mostly in private- aside from Archie wanting to tease her by giving her flowers and other romantic gifts in front of others just so he could make her blush. Rainie values how open Archie is with her about his deeper feelings and doubts, and she loves that he stays positive despite them. Archie really admires Rainie’s dedication to things, and willing herself to be better from any mistakes she or others made, which he really takes to heart. Archie loves to see Rainie's expression light up, and tries to get her to smile and laugh as often as he can. He also loves to give her the biggest bear hugs. They both share a love for the sea, so it’s unsurprising that they’re mostly seen on the beaches or in the ocean together, and sometimes take vacations to other regions to see their beaches and water surrounding areas. Raindrops. 

POKEMON TEAM

Bubbles 
Azurill → Marill → Azumarill ♀
Azurill was given to Rainie in an egg. It wasn't until Rainie was part of Team Aqua that Bubbles evolved from Azurill.  Even as a child, Rainie and Bubbles loved to spend all day in the water if they could, and try to as often as they can now even when Rainie's busier. Bubbles is always there to cheer Rainie up no matter what's happening.

Lulu 
Clamperl ♀
Clamperl's pearls are exceedingly precious, and make a single pearl during its lifetime. Lulu gifted her pearl to Rainie, which she wears as a belly button piercing. Lulu is pretty shy around others and will often shut her shell, but has learned to be braver due to Rainie's encouragement. Despite being shy to battle at first, she will fight for Rainie now when she's needed.

Lazuli 
Lapras ♀
Lapras has a gentle heart and prefers not to battle, and Rainie would never force her to. Lazuli loves to give Rainie rides across the sea, and is surprisingly comfortable. She may sing an enchanting cry if in a good mood, and has inspired Rainie to sing alongside. Lazuli understands human speech and Rainie perfectly- she loves her intelligent and kindhearted partner.

Starlet 
Staryu (Shiny) ♀
One night, while admiring the stars twinkling, Rainie was breath taken by the beauty of a shiny Staryu floating up from the sea floor, the center core flickering. Rainie has always loved the folktales of stardust falling into the ocean and becoming Staryu, so she was overjoyed to have Starlet join her team.

Marin 
Poochyena → Mightyena ♀
Poochyena was rather careful when she first met Rainie, but was a curious one.  Adorned with a cute blue ribbon, Marin is a proud Pokemon, who is rather protective of her trainer, and often likes to sleep curled up next to her. Marin is really fond of Archie's Mightyena, and they're rather affectionate with one another.

Prism 
Luvdisc ♀
Schools of Luvdisc swarm around loving couples, so Rainie was rather flustered when they did for her and Archie, as she believed in the tales of the Pokemon promising a loving relationship that never ends. Archie, recalling the customs of giving a Luvdisc as a gift to express one's feelings of love, decided to catch the one that lingered behind and seemed fond of Rainie. Rainie cherishes Prism, and wears her Heart Scale on her person almost always. Prism seems to turn even bathwater the color pink.

Rainie has a huge soft spot for Wooper and Clodsire.

TRIVIA
+ Her favorite legendary is Kyogre and her favourite mythical is Jirachi
+ Secret Base: Route 119: a quietly refined cave where the sound of a waterfall soaks into your body. Inside you can find a Big Lapras Doll, Azurill, Marill and Azumarill Poke Dolls, several round cushions, a sea projector, sea globe, treasure music box, a variety of sea treasures, and a bed.
