Kaia

Most people meet Kaia while she’s working - a busy woman who’s trying to keep her little botique in line. Generally she’s polite, though she tolerates little nonsense from people trying to pull one over. With those she’s firm but calm. Kaia can also be a little terse - if she’s in the middle of something she won’t bother with anything more than a short huff.

Kaia’s the sort of woman who tries to keep her emotions hidden under a smile. She’s always trying to appear happy to the general public, even when she’s about to collapse from the stress of being fairly famous. People know her and her designs quite well, which means that even when she’s just trying to go shopping she’ll get stopped on the street.

Many consider Kaia a creative genius, and they’d be right. She’s always got a notebook on her to scribble out sudden ideas whenever she’s out and about. In addition to her multitude of ideas, Kaia is also very meticulous about details to an infuriating degree. It’s enough to drive her assistants mad just trying to get up to her standards of perfection.

However, Kaia’s also generally personable. She’s good at keeping her judgemental comments to herself (although when she gets home she’ll go off on a rant). People find her generally pleasant to be around, even if she’s suppressing the rest of her emotions to do it most of the time. She’s a surprisingly good actor after all.

Also, Kaia is incredibly hard to say no to. When she wants something, she’ll get it - so long as she doesn’t hurt the people she loves. Whether through her force of personality or status or otherwise, Kaia always has a trick up her sleeve that puts her ahead with her goal in her hands.

Kaia doesn’t like to think about her childhood family. Sure they were famous - descended from the early explorers and whatnot - but honestly, they were overly strict and probably not even ready to have kids when she was born. There was nothing specifically bad, it was just generally a hostile environment to be raised in.

She went to the nicest schools and had all the nice things, but all the expectations were too high and the future her parents wanted for her - taking over their fortune as a resource baron and being good at math and bossing lots and lots of people around - was not one she was capable of.

So as soon as Kaia was out of her childhood home, she basically cut her family out of her life and set to work establishing herself as what she wanted to be: a fashion designer. It was difficult to get started - sure she had designs, but no one wanted to take a chance on some no-name.

The first step to getting known was to work with one of the greats. Though it took a lot of tries, Kaia was eventually able to become the assistant to the late Nila Thorton who was considered the best of the best. Though a very taxing boss, Nila imparted lots of wisdom to Kaia, who took every piece of information, analyzed it, and took what fit to heart.

From there, Kaia began working on building her own brand. Though it took a lot of hard work and people conspired against her, Kaia eventually made her way into the world of the rich and famous.

During the brand-building period, Kaia stumbled into a hole-in-the-wall witchery shop. The owner, busy in the back, seemed a little excited (but in a sophisticated way) as soon as Kaia walked in. Clearly the place didn’t get much traffic. The owner, a witch known as Lady Mortimer, seemed quite excited in a very sophisticated way. The two hit it off (and Kaia got the approval of the cat, Eclipse).

After years of friendship, they finally figured out that they were both really into each other, realized they were actually deeply in love, and got married. All within the span of a year, of course. Now, they’re happily married.
