Personality
To anyone who doesn't know him well, Jet appears to be nothing more than an arrogant grump who cares more about machines than people. While it is true that he's arrogant and has a hard time interacting with others, below the surface he's deeply passionate about his job as a mechanic and a spotter, a lover and protector of nature, especially the ocean, and over all, a humorous and excitable nerd who loves to learn and can hardly contain himself when something catches his eye. Unfortunately, his intense fear of being hated or forgotten makes him build up walls around himself to appear confident comes off more as arrogance and aggressive competitiveness.
Appearance
Jet is a somewhat tall and intimidating cinnadog. His piercing black eyes are nearly always scowling, but even his smile is toothy and unnerving. Even the way he walks is unsettling, as his gait resembles that of a march than a leisurely walk. Despite this, his grace in the water is something to behold, as his large wings allow him to glide effortlessly through the ocean. He takes great pride in his silky fur, and can often be found cleaning it of oil or other debris after work.

TV tropes
- Driven By Envy Most of Jet's motivation behind his aggressive "competition" with Mantablack is purely because he envies her ability to fly. In fact, he has a complex love/hate relationship with anyone or anything that can fly.
Inferiority Superiority Complex Sure, Jet acts like a complete know it all and the best there is to a completely insufferable level, but it's only because he wants to convince himself and others that he's as great as he says he is.
Insufferable Genius The guy's smart enough to fix or create some of the most complex machinery in the world, but he doesn't really know how to be polite...
Never My Fault At this rate, if he hasn't figured out that people don't like him because he's rude, and not because he doesn't think people appreciate his ability as a spotter, he never will.- Olympic Swimmer Sharing many traits with manta rays, it's only natural that Jet is a natural when it comes to swimming.
Backstory
As a child, Jet always dreamed of being able to fly, but knowing that he couldn't fly, he grew bitter as he grew older. Though he eventually settled for "flying" through the ocean, he never lost his love for the sky, and pours his heart into his work as a spotter, surveying the oceans around the island for any unusual occurrences, out of nothing but pure spite that that is the closest he'll ever come to flying. He doesn't hate his job per say, and he knows he's good at what he does, but he still desires what he considers better than what he already has.
When a new spotter, a sky based spotter at that, came to the islands, Jet's worst fear was awakened: losing his title as the best spotter, and fading into obscurity.
Despite the fact that Jet doesn't see work with Mantablack often, he hates her and everything about her with passion, and always tries to get ahead of her to make sure she never surpasses him. While his motivation did initially make him a better spotter, his jealousy and paranoia eventually consumed him entirely, to the point that he began making attempts to sabotage Mantablack, while she sees their competition as nothing more than a friendly rivalry.
As Jet became more known as the guy trying to prove himself for nothing, he noticed that he was becoming less popular and more hated, he continued to grow more paranoid that Mantablack was indeed replacing him, but he fails to realize that he's the one digging himself into his own hole.

- Despite the fact that being a spotter is what consumes his life, he owns a small shop on the side where he invents new gadgets and fixes the ones people bring to him
