Personality:
- Lottie is a fun-loving party animal with an insatiable thirst for the vibrant things in life. She never lets a Friday night go un-outed, despite her less than favourable financial situation, but she makes the most of what she has. Her living selling jewellery on Etsy isn’t giving her enough money to even feed herself some days, consequently leading her to constantly ask people she knows for resources and a place to couch-surf, even sometimes using one-night stands as her place to sleep for the night. She’s often encouraged to get a ‘real job’ by her peers, however she argues that she isn’t made for the 9-5 life, and that whenever she did try getting a job in the past it often wouldn’t last more than a week before her employers got sick of her trying to do things in her own unique way. Suffice it to say, Lottie wasn’t born to conform to the capitalist wage slave lifestyle.
Despite how dependent she might be on others, she doesn’t let people’s generosity go unthanked for, promising that one day when she has her big break she’ll pay them back. Most people don’t seem to believe her however, and even sometimes refuse the jewellery she makes for them as a form of payment. Lottie knows this lifestyle won’t last her whole life, but she also finds comfort in people’s willingness to accept her into their homes, although of course this isn’t always successful, as she’s had to sleep on the streets a few times before. Regardless of the apparent danger, she’s willing to take the gamble. This dangerous lifestyle has led her to be in debt to some sketchy individuals.
With how dire her situation might seem, one might wonder what led her down this path. Lottie was a fairly timid and awkward teenager, she was never the greatest academically but she was well-behaved and supposedly had a strong future ahead of her thanks to her creativity and ability to assert herself when need be. Not too long before her graduation however, her mother was diagnosed with a fatal illness which left her and her father financially and mentally ruined. Their relationship weakened over time and eventually Lottie had enough of her father’s awful treatment of her and left by herself, which led her to surrounding herself with all the worst kinds of people and the worst types of decisions. The few people who she’s had meaningful relationships with she either ended up pushing away or messing up. Her first relationship as a teenager left her resentful, fearing that if she ends up committing to a relationship that she might be hurt again. Ever since, she’s been trying to find a place - or, somebody - that she can call ‘home’.
Lottie places a lot of emphasis on her fashion style, with nearly all of her clothing being made herself either from thrift shops or even some random pieces found on the streets. Her style is bold and eclectic, taking care to blend vintage pieces with modern trends to all together create a style which she describes as ‘organised mess chic’. She has a collection of bangles, necklaces, and different types of earrings to match her outfits, proudly making sure she stands out in a crowd. She has a few tattoos and is planning to get more, most of which she claims she got just because they ‘looked cool’, apart from the one on her right elbow which depicts her childhood dog ‘Spots’.
