Dareius is a chimera, does not know his parents nor remembers his origin. In AU/Canons in which he does, he knows he is a man made creation that was crafted with the intent to use his mind control abilities on the masses with the use of his voice and pulsing colors along his flesh.
Regardless of AU/Canons he tends to keep this ability. An obvious factor of this is that his skin may change colors and give off blinding light or glows similar to neon signs. This is the very clear aspect of his mind control or general mood at times. Though while he is a performer and uses it, he only does so to influence people's moods and make them feel happy and carefree in their life and without stress of the real world; as he wishes it wasn't such a cruel place to begin with.
Dareius has a tail, one that is a snake much to old myth of a 'chimera'. The tail may shift to something more normal and not 'alive' in some aus. While it seems the snake has a mind of its own it is still Dareius, just the very obvious aspect of his 'hindbrain', pun intended. It will react emotionally in a lot of ways he might not at that moment. Such as rattling, hissing, and even giving kisses.
Dareius a lot of times comes off rather stoned or..pissed off with his general facial expressions. He's a sweetheart but he wont hesitate to start a fight for whatever reason it may be where he feels he is in the right to do so. Paired with his sometimes fiery temper he can breathe/exhale fire, as can his tail as seen at his performances. With such a temper comes just a viscous bite, being venomous it's both literal and metaphorical.
There are AUs/Canons in which he may be two headed, and sprout a pair of wings.
Dareius is in a happy poly relationship with a giant tanuki bear named Cosmo, and a other-dimensional alien named Lumen. He loves them lots!
