Orion is a "blessed" Melanesian boy who uses he/him pronouns, and Desdemona's younger brother. An explorative person with a keen eye for diamonds in the rough, Orion has made himself known as a capable explorer of any area left untouched by time and humanity alike, searching for anything usable left behind. He's often met with confusion, or being called a 'dumpster diver,' no matter how many times he explains that he prefers likening his hobby to prospecting. In spite of frequent misunderstandings with people he's sure wouldn't care either way, he maintains an unerringly positive attitude about what he's made for himself, as well as his future career in gemology.

Perhaps as fate's own little joking way of ensuring Orion is never left in the dark, he is "blessed" with the ability to freely generate and manipulate all forms of light. He can create manifestations that resemble himself down to the smallest detail, turn an outstretched hand into a flashlight, or even affect light in such a way that it becomes solid. Outside of always being able to navigate areas with no natural light to speak of, he doesn't think much of this "blessing." He already gets weird looks from people just for where he spends his time; they don't need even more ammo for their unflattering impressions of him.

Orion's time spent scavenging sees occasional hints come his way about various places he could scope out for usable items, but his latest tip is coming from a source that refuses to be found in any databases. The texts he receives do nothing to assuage his very tangible panic response, only reading in terse phrases such as "You don't want to miss this." The address given is also somewhat out of his usual radius, being by an out-of-the-way village on the outskirts of a massive forest. He can't quite plant himself in place, even with an intangible cold sweat washing over him; he wants to go. He shows the texts and location to Desdemona, who shows shock for a fraction of a second before demanding she come along. Orion knows she means well, and lets her tag along.
