Eliyen is quite confident of her abilities and always seems to be ready for a challenge. She can be rather adventurous and is perhaps a bit too eager to charge into the danger. She can talk a lot but avoids the topic of her past, carefully redirecting conversations she feels will bring up too many questions. She has a pretty strong hatred of shades since they were the reason she lost her family and friends and takes joy in hunting them. While in town (often in taverns) she is sometimes approached with... job offers, some of which are less legal than others. She typically decides which to accept based on how interesting/fun they sound, as well as how good the pay is.

Having lost so many people she was close to, sometimes due to her own mistakes (or so she believes), Eliyen travels alone, unlike most shadehunters. She tries not to care for others, but she isn't always sucessful. If she feels that she's starting to get too close to anyone, she'll usually push them away again and/or move on to the next town.

Though she doesn't talk about them to anyone, Eliyen still feels guilty for what happened to her sister Vyra and her friend Kova and sometimes finds herself thinking about them when she has nothing to keep her busy.

Though Eliyen has never been good with magic she was taught to fight from a very young age and is excellent with blades as well as a bow (crossbow? I've been thinking about changing it but I'm not sure). She picks locks with ease and moves silently, often slipping in and out of buildings without being noticed.

(A shade is basically a type of vampire the feeds or energy and can't feel human emotions. They have the ability to blend into the shadows and can travel through them)

Before coming to Ariava's clan, Eliyen traveled with her mother, a shade hunter called Kasanni, and baby sister Vyra. Her mother made her train hard and often, ensuring that she was capable of surviving alone in forests filled with all types of dangerous creatures and that she could keep herself and Vyra safe in the event of Kasanni's death. Kasanni was killed fighting shades when Eliyen was 11 and the two girls found and joined Ariava's clan shortly after, hoping for a chance at anormal life. For awhile they had it, but then, when Eliyen was 16, she went hunting with her friend Kova, a half-elf like Vyra and the two were attacked by a group of shades. Eliyen had thought that half elves were immune to the Plague of Shadows, but she was wrong. Kova disappeared one day not too long after the fight, and by the time Eliyen tracked him down he had already become a shade and he attacked Eliyen when he saw her. The two fought and Eliyen was forced to kill him.

Awhile later, Eliyen, Vyra, Red, and Kova's brother, Akir, attempted to travel through a portal to the New World where they thought they would be safe. It almost worked, but the portal was unstable and collapsed before Eliyen and Akir could go through it and they weren't able to reopen it

Unable to reach her sister, Eliyen left the clan and Akir to become a shade hunter like her mother. Unfortunately it was rare that she was actually paid for hunting shades- or umbral vampires as they were sometimes called- so she started searching for other jobs. It wasn't long before she discovered that she was excellent at slipping in and out of places unnoticed, and soon, valuable objects started disappearing around her and finding their way into the pockets or homes of well-paying customers. She may accept other types of work if the pay is good enough and she finds the job interesting/fun enough.

(The series Eliyen's from is a wip so this section may change a bit sometime- Eliyen probably won't come in until the second book/later in the first book and I don't really have a lot planned out with her yet.)

At some point she finds Vyra again, somehow back in their world with her gryphon and a small group of humans. To Eliyen's dismay, Vyra has no memory of her or anything from before she went through the portal, though she does eventually belive Eliyen about who she is. Eliyen didn't really want to be a part of a group but joins them so she can stay with Vyra. For awhile she isn't really comfortable around them, espescially Arlo, who seems to have replaced her as Vyra's sister, and Lucian, who she later learns spent years working for an organization Vyra had been a slave to for several of the years she'd been in the New World, but she eventually learns to get along with them, and with more time, will probably start to like the group more and even view them as family.
