Originally from Germany, Dietrich moved to Chicago to pursue a lead about his family's vampiric history after they died. He was 15. He was not born a vampire, but both his parents were. They were leaders of the lineage back home, so he was always going to lead one, probably. His life goal was to become a vampire. He met Prism and Vendel at school and immediately melded into their strange and sometimes awkward friend group (if you could call it a group). Because of how close they got, Dietrich quickly entered the world of demons and was fascinated. At the age of 24 Dietrich was turned into a vampire by Roman and submitted to his lineage (Alucard).

Since Dietrich was turned by Roman, the son of the leader of the lineage, he is technically a heir, however the position is still held by Roman. Dietrich and Roman eventually begin dating, further solidifying Dietrich's possible leadership in the future, much to Roman's chagrin. Due to his ties to Black Chicago and Cardinal, Dietrich become a vampire hunter, often working with Cardinal. Currently, he works to solve disputes within different lineages and keeps the Alucard vampires in check. There are a few other vampires who work with him as well. Argus provides enhancements to equipment for vampire hunting.

Dietrich started a band called Diet Rich which two other vampires, Penumbra and Wolf of the Yves lineage. They became friends during a border dispute Dietrich was called to solve out east, though they originally met at Black Chicago. Dietrich sings lead vocals and plays the guitar, which he kind of sucks at. They dress like punks and fittingly play some sort of punk rock shit, but Dietrich seems to prefer hardcore electronic music. He likes making German covers of songs with his pals.

He helps out around Black Chicago, getting called in whenever Cardinal needs someone to do his dirty work. He's had that role since he was human, so he's seen a lot of shit (corpses). Right now, Cardinal has him helping out find yxstly's identity on Earth. He's kept it a secret... but he's known for a while, because they've been talking, and Dietrich doesn't really want to stop him from destroying the world. Yxstly is the only one who's accepted him fully for who he is, chaotic idiocy and all. They made a promise to each other, that if yxstly removed his ability to see his human form (he can only see himself as a demon), Dietrich would give him periodic updates on the happenings of the demons.

As Dietrich drinks more demon blood instead of human, his body is slowly losing its humanity, more than any other vampire has in history.

Even as his humanity wears away, Dietrich is a laid-back kind of guy. He's not too concerned with his life and likes to go with the flow. He's loyal to his friends, but quick to hold a grudge if someone fucks him over. Dietrich is concerned with how others perceive him, though he'd never admit it, especially as he doesn't make much effort to curb people's assumptions. He's chaotic, he's foolish, and he's here for a damn good time!
