Malocchio is a Damage hero in Overwatch.STORY"I'm shooting straight for your heart." Though stories on his rise to fame vary, it's common knowledge that he's well-beloved now, even with only vague details of his past. Other than mentions of being adopted, his family life remains a mystery to even the most dedicated of his fans, despite many of their best efforts. While some see this mysteriousness as a red flag, many simply see his elusive nature as just another part of his charm. Due to his advocacy for omnic rights, his party life, and his villa's location, rumors have arisen of him being connected to Le Maschere, a Venice-based omnic private protection firm branded, "The Omnic Mafia" for its methods. Malocchio takes these rumors in stride, joking about them or simply laughing them off. Rumors are just rumors, after all. Right? BACKGROUNDNicola was born to a single Romani-Italian mother in Naples, Italy. An omnic supporter lacking a place of belonging, his mother would eventually become a spy and informant for Le Maschere, who had a Naples base in addition to their main headquarters in Venice. Mascherari, omnic founder and leader of the organization, would eventually fall in love with her and adopt Nicola as his own son. After her death, however, Mascherari would come to distance himself from humanity, eventually beginning to treat his son as more of a tool for improving omnic-human relations than an actual person, let alone as a son. From the moment his mother died, Nicola was reared to take the exact path his father set up for him, doing as he said and having little choice to make major life decisions on his own. | MALOCCHIO | ||||||

It was his father who would come to push him towards a music career, as the resulting stardom would allow Nicola to advocate for omnic rights (and other ideologies attached to Le Maschere) to a large audience without having the stigma of the omnic mafia attached to his name. Even now, Malocchio is noted by his fans for his questionable origins, all unaware of Mascherari playing the puppeteer.
