Mafic is a friendly if not nervous resident of Hope. They enjoy drawing and learning about geology and spending time with friends. Overall a nice person but rather unremarkable. However, they have a tendency to disappear without a trace for long periods of time, only to reappear suddenly with only a casual dismissal or excuse to acknowledge their absence. They claim to be a student, but there are no records of them having ever taken a class. They pay Shazzbaa rent (sometimes), but their room is empty for months at a time.
And every time they reappear, there's something different about them. They've become skeletal in appearance, or covered in rainbow moss, or a creature of shadow with a supply of souls(?) at hand. And every time they sheepishly dismiss the change as some kind of magical accident and change the subject.
This time they have a serpentine body seemingly made of stars, and scratches in their skin revealing a golden glow from within. They can be seen scratching at their skin when they think no one is looking, revealing more golden light, looking distressed. They're no longer attempting to pay their rent in souls, though, so that's probably an improvement
