名前の由来は見たら寿命が延びる星でお馴染みの南極老人星(カノープス)からで、通称は「かのぴ」。 星の綺麗な夜に地球に落ちてきた記憶喪失の地球外生命体で、自分の記憶を探すために地球の各地を旅している。性格は無邪気で人懐こく誰とでも仲良くなれるタイプ。旅の途中で出会ったラムネとはマブダチであり、変わり者のラムネに振り回されながらも大変良い関係を築いている。 大好物はメロンパン。ゆっくり味わって大切に食べるためよく途中でトンビに盗まれている。
