Zeena

"Fate loves the fearless"

Zeena has a zest for life and enjoys spending her time running, hunting and socializing. She believes she is a responsible and a born leader, having tested her qualities as a pack leader many times before, however deep down she just has a craving for power. Her words may be seen as sarcastic sometimes, but really it's a way for her to test the waters. If you're considered a friend then she's a sweetheart as she values loyalty above all else. If you cross her or those she considers friends, there is no end to her ruthlessness and swift desire for justice. She is well known to use her words and behaviour to influence others and manipulate their thoughts. Zeena truly lives for the thrill of the hunt, as she feels her best after challenging her own patience and skill. This can be literal or figurative; hunting for food is something she loves doing, but hunting for the weakness of others is her main talent. Her tracking skills are highly developed, along with her tactics to hunt specific species. Her specialty is elk and deer within a small team, though on her own she is especially talented in hunting rabbit and other vermin.

She enjoys being respected and informed of all pack activities, especially regarding keeping the territory clear from rogues. While she will follow orders to some extent, namely if given by someone she respects, she will only do as much as she pleases. Zeena will not be ordered around, nor will she accept just anyone as a leader. Anyone that blatantly disregards her words or actions is immediately looked down upon. Zeena is also not extremely skilled in combat with other wolves, and usually leaves that to others if she can. Her combative personality with those in power can make her seem like an outcast, though in a position of power she is a strong leader. Zeena may seem high and mighty to those she just met, as she is unwilling to back down and has a certain air about her.

Zeena is an adult female grey wolf with a black mask surrounding her eyes and muzzle, and a black tail tip. She has a white star marking on her forehead and white cheeks, ears, legs and underbelly. The rest of her body is grey, and she has deep blue eyes. Zeena is relatively thin and light-weight with decent sized paws, perfectly adapted to hunting in snow and wet environments. She has shorter fur around her muzzle, eyes and on her legs with longer fur surrounding her face and down her back.

Zeena was born in a litter of three to the Alpha's of the largest pack in the north, Rena and Remus. Rena had a litter before that contained only one surviving pup named Becca. Within Zeena's litter there was another female named Mayura (called May for short), and a male called Rowan. While May and Rowan looked like normal pups, there was something odd about Zeena as she was born similar to her siblings but had a star marking on her forehead. Her mother shared the same mark, a mark known by the pack as a "mark of the Gods". The pack believed the mark was bestowed upon those who were the rightful heir, the one who would become Alpha when the time came. However Rena knew the mark meant more than that, and chose Zeena to teach all her wisdom to. The thought of becoming the next Alpha went to Zeena's head, as that was all she was taught at a young age. She was favoured over all her siblings and went through daily lessons with her mother on how to become a wise and strong leader.

Remus went off hunting shortly after the pups were born, but never returned. The other hunters say he was killed by a bear, but after looking for the body there was no trace of a bear or Remus. Zeena had never known her father well, though she was often told stories of his bravery by others of the pack. Rena was a witty, elegant leader who had spent numerous hours teaching Zeena about the skills of hunting and leadership. As Zeena got older and grew stronger in tracking, hunting and truly following in her mother's pawprints, there was a sudden shift in the pack when Rena became ill. She had been unable to move for weeks, barely eating while fur became stained and ragged. At this time, Becca had decided to take charge of the pack, assuming that due to being the eldest of Rena's children it was her right. She held in anger towards Zeena ever since she was born, so Zeena never got close to her older sister.

Eventually Becca attacked their mother for the title of Alpha with no mercy, killing her in the process. Zeena was still a fairly young adult at this time, and she was mortified her older sister would turn on their mother like this. Zeena respected her elder sister, feeling it was not her time to try to challenge her as she was still young. Not sure what to do, Zeena accepted the fact that Becca was Alpha and her mother was gone. Becca's reign was truly a reign of terror, making most of the pack concerned for their lives. She had no knowledge of the land or the specific hunting strategies the pack needed to remain strong, and other packs began lurking in the shadows of the territory ready to claim it for themselves. Becca didn't bother patrolling the territory as she should, and was more concerned about the hatred she held for her sister, knowing one day Zeena could take over and end her reign. She didn't mind Rowan much as he was a complete pushover, often yelping at the slightest touch. While Becca was too busy pushing everyone away, Zeena remembered her mother's teachings that the Alpha should know all the pack members well enough that when the time came, they wouldn't hesitate to be by her side. Using this teaching, Zeena began socializing with the others of the pack and doing her best to be a kind, caring individual. Becca had decided not to banished Zeena or May yet as the pack needed young hunters, but Zeena knew it would be a matter of time and had to work quickly.

A few months after Rena was killed, Becca had recognized the pack's borders were being challenged by another pack and so she turned her anger towards May. She threatened May to leave immediately or she would be killed as Becca could no longer tolerate her around. Zeena knew May would never be able to challenge Becca as she was too fragile and soft, usually putting up with what Becca had told her to do. Zeena took in a deep breath and had awakened every fibre of her being. She refused to listen any longer, or have her sister killed because Becca felt threatened. Zeena stepped forward proudly and called upon a challenge for the title of Alpha. Becca willingly accepted, ready to get rid of her sister once and for all.

Normally the challenges occur as a fight to the death between the two challengers, but Zeena knew fighting was not her strength. Instead she began talking about how the pack could no longer stand Becca and that she should move aside. The pack had rallied to Zeena's side and Becca became overwhelmed. It was the first hint of power Zeena had felt in her life, and it filled her with confidence. After seeing this display of unity and force, Becca knew her reign was over and conceded the fight. Zeena spared Becca's life but in return, banished her from the pack permanently. Before Zeena even had time to become the Alpha of the pack, she realized many of the pack members were quickly becoming sickly and diseased. Eventually the pack had gotten a lot smaller as a disease spread through all packs in the area, so Zeena felt it was best everyone dispersed and went on their own to avoid the spread. May went with Rowan and the others towards the Arctic while Zeena also headed north but in the opposite direction, feeling she had a calling elsewhere.

Zeena eventually ran into another pack and joined as a huntress, knowing her skills were worthy enough. The pack was new so only a few of the upper roles were filled. She worked hard and kept her head low, staying out of pack drama but slowly getting closer to the ones in charge. Her first small taste of power made her crave more. Zeena was soon promoted to Lead Huntress within the pack by their Alphas, Blaze and Blizzard. Zeena had taken a liking to Blaze as he was a strong leader and a worthy Alpha, however she couldn't despise Blizzard any more than she already did. It became apparent that Blizzard was not around much, and seemingly left everything to Blaze and their Beta Male, Strong. Zeena was cunning and began to place thoughts and ideas in Blaze's head, hoping he would leave Blizzard and demote her. However Blaze wasn't about to leave his good friend and mate like that, so instead Zeena began working on Strong in hopes he would move her up through the ranks so she could be heard and make a commotion regarding Blizzard. Strong had been looking at promoting someone to the Delta position, and it seemed to be between Zeena and another female named Aleuna, the Lead Scout of the pack. To Zeena's dismay, Aleuna was chosen to be the first Delta of the pack. Jealous and angry, Zeena planted some evidence of Aleuna being disloyal to the pack, then reported it to Strong. Strong had no reason to believe anything was completely made up, and so he discussed the issue with Blaze who banished Aleuna from the pack.

Zeena was now the new Delta of the pack, and began to spend time with the others to strengthen her bonds until the time to move for the crown was upon them. She eventually won Strong's heart and became the Beta Female of the pack, rising in power quickly. She never liked Strong as he was too cautious with everything, but she knew he was her only choice if she wanted the title of Alpha and leadership of the pack. Blaze was beginning to have some doubts about Blizzard after consistent fighting between them, and soon they both left the pack rather suddenly. With the dispersal of the Alphas, Zeena took up the rank of Alpha for the first time with Strong by her side. The pack was in disarray with the sudden leaving of Blaze, and Strong began to have doubts about himself being an acceptable leader. Zeena's first reign was short as the pack dispersed once again. Strong stayed with Zeena during this time, still not knowing of her betrayal towards him. They decided to create a new pack together farther north in Alaska. There, most of the original members of Blaze's pack joined them and the pack became larger than ever. With Zeena's leadership skills and Strong claiming new areas of territory, the pack thrived. Zeena even allowed Aleuna to return, feeling somewhat bad for her actions earlier on. Knowing Aleuna was no longer a threat she didn't need to bother protecting her position. However, over time it became clear that Zeena has made a terrible error. While busy running the pack she had barely noticed there were numerous females wanting her position; namely a white female with a moon-shaped marking on her forehead named Moonshine. Strong still had a soft spot for Aleuna, and Moonshine was fast becoming more apparent within the pack's decisions.

One day, Zeena was arguing with Strong when he got tired of how the hunts were becoming less fruitful and blamed Zeena for being lazy. Using the fight as her advantage, Aleuna had clearly sorted out what Zeena had done previously and told Strong what she had done to not only her, but Blaze, Blizzard and himself as well. Zeena attempted damage control but it failed miserably and Strong attempted to banish her. Luckily Zeena had a backup plan in case her position was in jeopardy. While Strong spent many days and weeks out in the wilderness with a small portion of the pack, Zeena has been working alongside the majority of them daily and had convinced them she was the true Alpha. When Strong attempted to banish her, Zeena knew could rely on her allies, telling them it was all a lie and she had never done anything like that to Aleuna. The pack sided with her, causing a battle between pack members on either side which eventually led the pack into chaos. Strong was overthrown and the pack dispersed. Zeena led part of the pack loyal to her elsewhere. Over time, it appeared that Moonshine became the new Alpha Female of the broken pack Zeena once reigned over, and Aleuna had dispersed on her own after sticking to Strong's side. 

There was a powerful clan of wolves Zeena knew of that had been rulers of the Alaskan wilderness for a while now, led by a brown wolf named Koa. Koa had led her pack with help of her allies, Lyikah and Redsky, and possessed no mercy for those who crossed her. She was the closest thing to a tyrant that Alaska had; she ruled strictly out of fear. Zeena had found a way to be accepted into their group and soon she gained the trust of Koa and the others, eventually becoming their leader. Koa was content with letting Zeena take the reins and seemed to almost prefer being a loyal follower eager to do Zeena's bidding. Zeena was now even more powerful than ever. Using her brainwashing tactics she had used previously, she helped those in the pack overcome their fear of Koa now that she was no longer in charge and change their minds to believe Zeena was once again, the true Alpha of the North. With the help of her new friends, Zeena waged war on Strong and Moonshine's pack. The war was subtle enough at first where food would go missing, rivers would be dammed up, etc. but gradually members would disappear to join Zeena's allies, and spies were common on both sides.

Eventually one night underneath the full moon and shining stars, Zeena was doing her patrols and noticed Moonshine was on her own. Zeena despised her more than ever after she took over her role as Alpha, knowing no one could fill her pawprints. Moonshine would apparently mock Zeena often, based on what the spies had told her. This time, Zeena felt she could end this once and for all. Approaching Moonshine, she criticized her for being Strong's new mate and Alpha of a broken pack. They got into a verbal fight, and while Zeena held her own Moonshine did as well. Zeena used her cunning spirit to place the ideas of Strong banishing her as well, and that her pack would never survive the torments of her and her allies. Moonshine had become weakened by the idea, too focused on trying to prove Zeena wrong, and that's when one of Moonshine's puppies came out of nowhere. When Zeena saw the offspring of Moonshine and Strong she lost control of herself. Her demons emerged and she snapped entirely; in one swift movement it was over. Moonshine was horrified by the death of her pup and attacked Zeena out of grief. They fought in the pale moonlight for some time until footsteps came running towards them. Using the sound to her advantage while Moonshine was distracted, Zeena lunged and snapped her jaws down on her hind leg causing severe damage. While Moonshine was down, Lyikah appeared as she had been patrolling and saw the scene. Zeena couldn't hide this. She explained to Lyikah that she can't say anything as this would lead the pack into a full out war, even though Zeena knew her pack would distrust her if they found out what she had done. Lyikah was a trusted member of the council who also had a bit of a primal side to her, so she willingly agreed. They decided to help one another make up a story of what happened and buried the pup far from the scene. They called a council meeting that night and explained how they had overheard Moonshine discuss plans to kill them. Zeena had accidentally ran into Moonshine and was attacked. She was lucky to escape with her life while injuring Moonshine in the process. Koa was overcome with rage that the pack would attempt to attack Zeena, much less without any sort of instigation. With this new knowledge and Zeena's blessing, Koa led the higher ups of the pack over to where Moonshine was downed, attacking her until she was bruised and her spirit broken.

Everything was exactly how Zeena had planned, and things were good for a while with her ever growing alliances and the weakened spirits of both Strong and Moonshine. Zeena had hoped Moonshine would have been killed that night, but unfortunately Koa spared her. Though Moonshine was beaten and bruised so severely she had lost her sight and ability to use her hind leg. Things went quiet for a while after that. Zeena had tired of the game and eventually moved her allies to deal with another pack that had been bothering them for a while and were continuously encroaching on their territory. However, everything took a turn for the worse when Lyikah was talking to Redsky and the truth slipped out that Moonshine only attacked Zeena because she had killed her pup. Koa had heard this and confronted Zeena where words were exchanged and the allies were sent into chaos. This time, Zeena was on the losing side and lost not only her closest friends, but her truest allies who had her back for years. The allies began to team up with Strong and Moonshine after discovering all the tricks Zeena had played on them, along with the other pack in the area. Koa led a full rebellion against her, wanting nothing more than revenge.

Zeena decided her best bet was to leave Alaska immediately before the allies rallied enough to fight her and take her down for destroying their packs and infiltrating their trust in one another. Once she escaped, she began her journey roaming the frozen north to find other packs that she could lead into chaos.
