Character

When you meet Kaoru, most notice that she can be sophisticated, appearance-conscious and creative. He is keenly aware of how spoiled he can be and tries his hardest to avoid coming off as being "self-centered" because of it. However, this doesn’t stop him from possessing a keen eye for beauty that is matched by her appreciation for elite society. The male is a social butterfly and enjoys meeting new people whenever she can. She can’t go a day without interacting with someone. She has a high quota of socializing she needs to fulfill. Kaoru dislikes the limelight and often tries to credit other people (which is mostly Masumi) or circumstances for his accomplishments. He doesn't see any value in awards or trophies. She is deeply generous to the point he is willing to sacrifice her happiness and her beauty for the sake of others.

Confidant

Kaoru’s confidant starts on March 25 when Akira and Adrian goes to visit Masumi and Kaoru. It is easy to raise this confidant as Kaoru is available during the weekend and days that Akira himself is free from his job at Teaching Assistant. It occasionally overlaps with the days that the Phantom Thieves go visit Mementos, resulting in Akira having to visit the male before going into Mementos.  While Akira doesn’t need it, this confidant raises Akira’s charisma and gives him new accessories for himself (and the party) to wear in Mementos. 

Kaoru’s confidant is centered on the male being stuck in a creative block and Akira’s attempts of getting him out of it. What this entails is Akira being involved in unusual situations that somehow sparks an idea for Kaoru to design a new line of clothing. An example would be the two males exploring Inokashira in the middle of the night for ghosts because “ghosts can spook creativity into someone.” At least that's what Kaoru states. Throughout the confidant, Akira will learn more about how Kaoru’s creativity led to the male realizing he was bigender. It’s also what helped him feel comfortable in properly accepting it by designing clothes that help express who he is. His creativity is something he always fears of losing as it is one of the few things to help him cope with his gender dysphoria. At some point, Kaoru learns a company is stealing his design ideas and struggles with how to handle it properly. He fears how messy it can be to drag lawyers and (unintentionally) the media into the mix. Thankfully Akira changed that (by stealing the heart of the CEO in charge and making said CEO confess) and made things easier for Kaoru to handle it. However, it also taught him how he should prepare to deal with such things as this could happen again later down the line. It was a lesson he honestly appreciates learning.

Kaoru's farewell gift to the Akira, on the day he maxed his Confidant bond, is a Necklace with a pendant of the Phantom Thieves logo on it.

This confidant is similar to Kawakami's confidant with a few twists. This confidant gives Akira more freedom during the day/night to take care of a few things by relying on some tips Kaoru gave him (or asking for Kaoru's help). It should be noted that Kaoru isn't available all the time and Adrian may not be so willing to let Akira do his own thing when it relates to work.
