Siwan was born in Wales, and raised by her father who sais that the girl had been left on his doorstep as a baby. She was homeschooled until the age of 11, after which the girl attended public education She possessed an interest in matters of law and justice, thus tried to study becoming a lawyer. However she dropped out of school two semesters in, instead turning on her back-up plan of developing her witchcraft powers and learning to be a private investigator.

Since she was a child Siwan has been able to throw up a "glamour" - a type of illusion allowing her to change her own voice and appearance. It looks believable enough when viewed with the naked eye but tends to manifest as imaging glitches or patches of blur on camera. Siwan started using the skill mostly to cover up her eyes with a more "normal" color, or - once she got older - to make herself look "prettier". From her fathers side (and possibly from mothers side as well) she also inherited other abilities pertaining to witchcraft, which have proved to be convenient for explaining the odd tint of her eyes since magic is known to alter its' casters appearance over time.

Gerwyn Fidgen A 42-year old single father who raised Siwan, trying to casually downplay her status as a changeling. Only ever speaks of her mother and the fae on the rare cases when he's drunk. The man does tech-witchery on the side - magic works best through favors and trades rather than outright purchasing so it's mostly a side-job through which he's in contact with other people possessing said talent, such as Alistar. Software dev and computer fixer who runs a little repairshop. Though only 19 when Siwan was born he's given his best to steer the girl towards better grades and to be a good parent.

Maeve Fidgen Siwans' maternal grandmother, died a few years after the girl was born but was a lot of help in raising her.

Amelia Fidgen Gerwyns' sister and Siwans' aunt. Yet another person who played a pivotal role in raising the girl when her father was working hard trying to make ends meet.

Unknown fae Siwans' mother. Siwan only knows of her through her father and has managed to piece together the following: 24 years ago Gerwyn had been, along with the rest of the townsfolk, drawn to a circus which appeared to have sprung up overnight. It had been the best circus - delirious, magical, drowning place. He'd met a girl there - a trapeze artist, obviously not human. Love at first sight, though possibly he'd merely been enchanted. Three nights later the circus disappeared without a trace. Gerwyn had spent months afterwards trying to find out anything he could of the place, but to no avail. Those who had no magical powers of their own didn't even seem to remember attending the place. About a year had passed since the circus-incident when a man had shown up on Gerwyns 'doorstep, handed him a baby like "I believe this is yours" and bam he was a single father.

Alistar Gwendal McKinnaird Siwans mentor after she left the university. Siwan found him essentially through an ad in the newspaper and, upon tracking the man down, discovered that she already knew him as one of her fathers customers.
