Summary

Sativus was roommates with Andromea 'Mika' Mikael during their last few years at the Academy. When they were assigned to their mentors, Sati was sent to the front lines with the infantry to learn on the job in the trenches in one of the minor encampents.

Nine years later with the war pressing on, researchers are called to move to the camps to assist active infantry. Sati is now a staff sergeant and is there to greet Mika and her former mentor Lamont when they join the Triston encampment. The old friends reconnect and begin to develop a more complex relationship that hedges between romantic, sexual, and platonic, but before they can learn where they figure in each other's new lives, Lamont is killed. Mika is left as one of the few and the now head researcher at Triston as well as learning of coded journals Lamont left behind to her, and her and Sati's relationship continues to bud in the midst of the chaos.
