also his gem is on his ear so maybe he has a hearing aid in the other? 

bio: 

youtuber whos also a big old anime fan, but  pokemon superfan. his bestest friend (and possibly crush , with they way ive been doodling ) is kaodo, and looks at him as a mentor. his ability is really annoying to anyone else , but helpful to him as he has hearing issues due to his gem locale. he can read thoughts , actions, and dialogue , and they  show up like if hes in a comic book. (if hes watching tv , its just captions)

He spent his childhood on homeworld,  and was tossed around until  he was old enough to be on his own.

He lives on homeworld still since he cant find a place to live on earth, opting to drive to earth untill he can gather money and occasionally crashing at kaodos place
