HISTORY Being a cybat born into the E.F.A. family, Laine grew up amongst others of her species in a group home. Despite the ominous implications, she had a mild childhood and was taken care of by a very attentive guardian. Along with the rest of the cybat children her age, they all spent a lot of their time in a boarding school-esque building, studying, reading, exercising and socializing. Later on down the line her basic training began, and it was there she learned how to be an effective investigator and spy. After graduating from training and being given high honors, she decided to spend a year on Earth. Being there endeared her to human species and their original cultures, and when she finally came back to Terra Zenso she was....different. Her attitude was much different than the average cybat now, and she often had dreams of becoming a human. Being a worker for the E.F.A., she had very little choice in the matter when she was instructed to help engineers test out some new tech. These things were usually minor- necklaces for nausea, gum that helps you breathe in oxygen poor environments- but on a particular week they were testing something new. An accessory geared towards hybrid individuals who wish to change their physical features. When Laine put the glove on for the first time, the transformation was painful and disorienting. It felt like every molecule was burning, ready to burst out of her. Passing out from the stress, she woke up later in a hospital bed...and in a considerably more human form. Being human was never something that Laine wanted desperately, but now she was able to experience humanity- at least in some part. After the testing ended, she was able to convince the team to let her keep one of the prototypes for good. She spends most of her time in human form, but she still very much values and appreciates her experience as a cybat. |
