(Umetaro is my DnD character)
Umetaro is an oni of 19, whose awkwardness won't hinder his ambition. He's been learning kendo from his father since he was 8 and got his current katana from his grandfather. His grandparents were part of the generation of oni that was present when Momotaro attacked Onigashima. When Umetaro was 15, he visited his grandparents, who still live in Onigashima, and his grandfather told him the legend of Momotaro. After hearing his grandfather's story, Umetaro was so moved that he left to find Momotaro himself and get revenge for his family. (The full story is posted in his library.)
He's still a little awkward, but his heart's in the right place. Despite his timid attitude when talking to strangers (or even his friends, honestly), he's a surprisingly strong fighter when he needs to be. He's good at keeping a level head in combat and will fight for anything he feels is a just cause. He just doesn't always get the social aspect of things. He might come off as stoic or serious at first glance, but it's likely he's just too scared to say anything.
These were special aspects of our campaign (since it was a homebrew), but oni as a race usually have the ability to take on a beast form of an animal aligned with their element. Ume's element is wood, and his beast form is a deer, a woodland creature. I don't put much detail into his horns when I draw them, but they're supposed to look more wood-like.
