Adriano is the epitome of positivity. Nothing ever manages to lower his spirits - more accurately, he never allows his spirits to be lowered. He is an optimist but while at a glance he seems like a simpleton (which, admittedly, he is) whose positivity is the result of ignorance and naivety, there is more depth to it than it seems. At the root of Adriano's positivity is a sort of minimalist, easily pleased view of life: he has no ambitions beyond a full stomach and a roof over his head. Friends to keep him company too, but with his amicable nature those come naturally. It does not take much to make him happy, therefore he is always happy.

But always is not quite accurate. Adriano has his own set of insecurities with one of the biggest being, ironically, his perceived dimness. Though infrequent, he has his moments of hopeless comparisons to other more successful, more ambitious, more capable people, which inevitably feel like a punch to the gut as Adriano asks himself if maybe he has it all wrong, and maybe he ought to strive for more.

Even so however, Adriano is a persistent fellow. It is true he does not have any goals but when he sets his eyes on something that something is the only thing he will set his eyes on for quite a while. He has a one-track mind. And along that one-track mind he also took the work smarter not harder philosophy to heart, resulting in a comically laid-back young man who will - seemingly at random - pull out these elaborate schemes to attain seemingly inconsequential objectives.

Though, arguably, overly fatalistic, nobody thought Adriano would amount to much growing up. He was a handful as a child: hyperactive and mischievous and just sweet enough (and at the right times) to get away with it too - though certainly his parents being perennially exhausted did not help. They loved him, though never quite tried to hide the fact they thought him to be on the dim side; his teachers were not much better, and by the end of elementary school Adriano had caught on to the fact that maybe, he was just... Not very smart.

Not that it bothered him. He lived a wonderful childhood in the small town of Wheel of Boria, with summers spent at the beach, or being dropped off at his grandparents' when his parents wanted some peace and quiet. Adriano was an extremely sociable child (who grew to be an extremely sociable adult too) and made friends wherever he went; in no time at all, travel had become the most exciting thing imaginable to him. Followed only by watching his favourite football team's games, a passion his parents neither shared nor understood but supported as best they could.

Adulthood hit Adriano before he knew it. He scraped by in school and graduated at the bottom of his class - but graduated nonetheless. And found himself lost as all his friends began working or following through to university... While he had no intention of even considering higher education, and the prospect of being stuck in his hometown working was not appealing either. For the first time, Adriano worried about the future. His parents too worried. They believed that Adriano would not be able to sort out his situation without their help, so they began job hunting for him.

Adriano had however - against his parents' expectations - decided he was not going to work. At least not in Wheel of Boria.

A year was the deal he struck with his parents: they would let him leave for a whole year, go wherever he wanted, but if by the end of the year he did not have a place to stay and a job, he was going to let his parents find him something in Wheel of Boria. Confident in his improvisation skills, Adriano hopped on the first train he could find and began exploring Varemo through these new adult lenses.

His second attempt (the first being unfruitful) landed him in a seaside city he had spent a handful of summers in: Lorpoli. By a stroke of luck he heard about a man around his age looking for a roommate (or tenant, admittedly) and by another stroke of luck, Adriano and Romeo hit it off right away. He moved in with Romeo and even found employment working the night shift in a convenience store.

Their duo soon became a trio with the arrival of Marie, a university student Romeo met by chance and introduced to Adriano. At a glance it seemed as though the two had nothing in common nor any reason to become as close as they did - but they did. And in no time at all Adriano's feelings of friendship had developed into a crush.

The deal Adriano made with his parents was fulfilled (to his parents' amazement) and they were glad to see him happy and enjoying life in Lorpoli. Which Adriano does - though his unwillingness to tell Marie about his feelings does eat him from the inside a little, he lives every day as it comes and focuses on the positive.

“Run, run to the sea she said
Like partners in crime”

Marie

Adriano's best friend! The two find ways around both of their hectic schedules to spend time together (and with Romeo too, though they're also happy with just the two of them), mostly playing pool or going on trips. Adriano has a massive crush on her but has no idea how to tell her - and Marie is completely oblivious.

Romeo

Initially Adriano's roommate (and technically landlord too...), it did not take long for the two to become friends despite some wild differences. The two know they can count on each other for anything. Romeo is also the first (oftentimes only) person Adriano vents his romantic frustrations to; Romeo is also the first person to encourage Adriano and cheer him up over it.
