Hugh's Links
Hugh doesn't trust Trolly as far as he could throw him. He knows that he's seen those eyes before, and not just from the times he's come with King Roy from Litari. Though he can't deny that he finds the man charming...he'll have to keep his eyes on him, but maybe for more than one reason...
Trolly can tell that Hugh doesn't trust him. Points for good instincts, at least! While the man can be a huge thorn in his side and a road block in his plans, well...He doesn't exactly MIND running into the handsome man again and again. Well, if he's going to have to keep Hugh on his toes, at least Trolly can make it fun for the both of them, right?
Hugh owes his life to King Balthazar. If it wasn't for his intervention, Hugh wouldn't even be here, let alone living the life that he has now. And there's no amount of thanks that Hugh can give for that kindness. Above all else, his priority now is to protect him and return what he gave to him on that day.
Having seen a poor, weakened manatee washed up on the shore, Balthazar decided to give him a second chance by turning him human and thus making it easier to get him help. Once Hugh was well enough, the king offered him a chance to stay a human and work as a retainer. He sees much honor and loyalty in Hugh and thinks he fits the role of protector perfectly.
While Hugh won't deny that Heinrich is an extremely capable man, it is quite grinding the obvious disdain he holds for others, including himself. He doesn't take it to heart, as they both just have the King's best interests in mind.
Hugh is disgusting. He's far too hairy and sweaty, and he SHEDS! The halfwit doesn't clean up after himself. If you had told Heinrich that Hugh was really a pig, he wouldn't question it!
One of Cordelia's forefathers.
A descendant of Hugh's bloodline. Admires his tale of loyalty and overcoming hardships, eventually finding true love.
Hugh is always quite amused by Amelie. She can go from so sweet to holding her own against Heinrich. He'll admit, he can't help but laugh every time she calls the butler out on his nonsense.
Amelie sees Hugh as a brother in arms against the cleanliness tyranny of Heinrich. He may try to hide it, but she sees how he snickers whenever she bickers with the butler. And she truly does appreciate it.
